What to mount on worth magics for 80% inbounds/20% out of bounds?

I am waiting on a pair of response core Worth Magic 185s (that I am super stoked to be getting) and I have a couple of weeks to figure out what binder to get for it.

I am 6'0", 160lbs (without gear), and far from the most aggressive skier on the mountain but I do like to thrash my way through tight trees and bumps a lot of the time. I rarely huck anything but small drops.

I am looking for a one ski quiver that I can use primarily inbounds, occasionally out of bounds/sidecountry, and more rarely for short tours (such as a couple of dawn patrol laps at the local hill). If I get really into it I'll probably get on a full-on dynafit touring setup and some cheap BD sticks over the summer (but i am a poor grad student so funding for these things is limited, especially with a bike budget too).

I am currently stuck between the Marker Tour F12s and Barons. I'd like the F12s because they would be more fitting for the "short tour" end of the spectrum, but I'd like the Barons for longevity, especially since most of the skiing I do is inbounds, in trees, and not necessarily the most graceful.

Anyway, if there is anyone out there in a similar situation or who might have some insight, it would be really appreciated. Cheers!

Edit: or, do I suck it up and get a dynaduke plate (but then I add extra weight and stack height) and get Barons for inbounds/sidecountry days and techs down the road when I can afford them?

Definitely Barons over F12s for the type of touring you are talking about here.

I like my Guardians for what your doing. Maybe the Guardian 13 is a good call for you?
Never in U.S. history has the public chosen leadership this malevolent. The moral clarity of their decision is crystalline, particularly knowing how Trump will regard his slim margin as a “mandate” to do his worst. We’ve learned something about America that we didn’t know, or perhaps didn’t believe, and it’ll forever color our individual judgments of who and what we are.

F12's have served me well for skiing inbounds with AT boots and short tours. They are less terrible going uphill than Duke/Barons and have held up well for me and others I know who use them. Don't buy the first generation. The original toe pivot design was shit.

I think the Worth folks were trying out the 12 DIN Tyrolia touring bindings this year (Ambition?). You might ask how they like them so far.

    Thanks for the input, guys.

Yeah, that is the way I was leaning but I was hoping I could get away with the F12s since they are so much lighter. I'm probably asking for too much though...

They seem pretty good, I like that you can switch modes without removing skis. They are way heavier than the Barons, though.

How heavy are you/what din are you skiing?

I demoed a set earlier this season but I think they were 13 DIN Adrenalines. But I could be wrong.

I'm 5'10" 180. DIN at 10. Skied them hard today through chop and bumps. I have about 50 days on them (about 40 inbounds) with AT and Alpine boots. No problems.

You are a perfect candidate for the Baron or Guardian13.

You'll be happy with either one. Buy whichever one you can get for a good price.

We have been very happy with the Adrenalin series bindings, both as our personal rigs and in the demo fleet. We were planning on going with the Ambitions for the demo fleet, but the demo version was not yet available. The weaselbro and TC are using the Ambition, and have been pleased so far. Both are substantially heavier, so I would expect you wouldnt have any durability issues they don't first uncover. Especially TC....if it will break, he will break it.

Thanks for the input guys. I was really torn (still am) between the F12s, Barons and Ambitions. It sounds like some people are having really good success with the F12s and the ambitions look like they could handle a beating too. In the end I went with the Barons because I tracked down a (new) pair from last season for ~$270. Money talks!

I'm 190 and 5-10 and also on the 80/20 on piste vs touring. I have the marker F12's on my Worth George's and on a set of BD Currents. Very pleased with the performance. They tour well and handle most everything fine. I'm not aggressive and pretty light in the loafers as I ski with a 7 DIN. The only issue I have ever had is on an old pair of skis that went into tour mode when I over flexed the ski in an icy mogul field. I hit a bump wrong and way over flexed the ski. I never considered it a fault of the binding. Logged many more hours after that with no incidents.

X2 for F12s. Good binding all around and a marked improvement over the Duke/Baron in terms of stack height, ski feel and uphill performance for sure. If you can find a pair that's decently priced, definitely go with them. They are way better than Barons IMO. I hated my Barons. Never felt a more dead feeling binding and don't really recommend them tbh. They got the job done but in a very unsexy way.

Well, shucks. I hope my experience with the Baron doesn't match yours. Thanks for the input. I suppose that if I really hate the barons, it's a pretty easy switch to re mount with the F12s (same hole pattern, right?), so I can always try that!
