I'm liking the looks of this lid, but I'm struggling with the whole flexible, soft-shell concept. I've always used a traditional hard-shell helmet and just wonder if they provide greater protection. Also, I find it weird that the Giro only conforms to Euro safety standards, while most other helmets have both US and Euro certifications. Should I be led to believe that this helmet can't pass the US test? In general, even if a helmet passes one of the tests how do we know if one helmet performs significantly better than another?
