    Stoic relabeled?

just on the backcountry site and it seems stoic is now backcountry.com gear/clothing? from the sizing chart it seems more traditional; with stoic i had to shoot up a size. any early buyers? curious if the fit is any different than when it was labeled stoic. was hoping for a full zip hooded hadron down jacket.....though i did see a full zip down jacket minus the hood.

I like the stoic stuff. Does run small though. The merino stuff has been good for me
I need to go to Utah.
    Utah?
Yeah, Utah. It's wedged in between Wyoming and Nevada. You've seen pictures of it, right?

So after 15 years we finally made it to Utah.....

bc used to have their own branded clothing, then went to the stoic name for the last couple years and it looks like they are going back to the bc name. I found alot of the old bc branded stuff had seams start coming undone pretty fast but some of the stuff has held up great. Kind of hit or miss with what you were going to get.

I received a Stoic hardshell as a gift and after about seven days the stitching in the the sleeve was coming undone. I got on the Stoic webpage and emailed them about how to get it repaired and have never received a response to my emails. They're no numbers to call on the Stoic webpage.

Didn't realize they were owned by BC.

I'm unimpressed with it compared to other brands I've used.

The only issues I've ever had or worried about with bc.com/stoic stuff is on their welded seams. They just don't seem up to the task. I'm a big fan of a lot of their other products, especially given the big discounts you can get on them. They might have the best merino in the business.

I too have enjoyed my merino base layers. Good stuff. Dollars to donuts says they switched to match REI's program of offering an in-house brand...

This is good news. I love the stoic stuff and was upset when I saw their site go down earlier this year.

Include me in the I am very happy with their merino wear... I ended up hitting one of the Steep and Cheap super deals and picked up 3 of their merino base layer quarter zips for next to nothing and absolutely love them... Still like my Smartwool more, but the BC/Stoic merino has held up and performed very well... And considering the cost it was a no brainer...

Always wanted to try some of their other products, but due to the fact that I am a Patagucci snobbed I never did...

    This.

I have an original bc.com shell that is about as good as any I've ever seen from a high end manufacturer.

Some of the stoic pieces I've seen look like they were manufactured for Target or Walmart.

I have a BC.com siphon bonded wool hoody, and it's amazing. My favorite sweater.

Really liking the Stoic Bombshell Insulated jacket. Very warm, lightweight and waterproof. Own 2 of them, 1 is light blue (1st generation?) and has an athletic/trim cut, the 2nd is the next generation cut which has more room for layering.

FAK just found out stoic is discontinued. While some of their stuff sucked, it was a great way to get high end fabrics for a good price. I have some stuff made with Schoeller, Pertex and Polartec, fabric and it's been great. BC is really starting to Blow Cock.

I have a lot of stoic clothing and like nearly all of it. It is hit or miss though. BC guy I talked to said they're going back to the backcountry.com label and already have some up on their site with more to follow. Agree with daught: with stoic you often got top end fabrics for a small fraction of the cost.

Wonder if the huge discounts killed stoic. I bet once they had 60%+ off sales no one paid full price on them. They probally had to sell most of it at cost or at a loss. Maybe it's better to burn or even donate leftover stock in some instances. Too bad it really had potential. They could have had reasonably priced gear, made with top notch materials and more atention to quality(stitching) and consistent sizing.

+1 for happy with both Stoic and old BC gear. I have a 2008 BC.com softshell jacket that's holding up great, I've been wearing it around town and in light use for a long time now, fits great and looks steezy. I also have some stoic underwear and base layers, which have been OK, and some stoic softshell pants that are good quality but fit weird. As some have said, it can be hit or miss, but overall I'm satisfied.

BC's been going through some changes- they're definitely not as awesome as they once were- but there are still many things that make me a frequent shopper there. First, they ship quickly. Second, their return policy, while a shadow of its former self, is still good, and when combined with their flat-rate return shipping ($6.99) makes for a very low-risk way to buy gear on sale and see if it works for you in terms of fit, etc. I have bought and returned several pairs of ski boots- unused, and often after months- but they always give me full return credit. The return shipping is less than it would have cost me in gas to go to a store that stocks all the boots, so I feel like I win. So essentially, if I think I want something, I just buy it, and view the return shipping as a flat-rate insurance policy.

think they are feeling other stores getting some market share...

late season/summer I was able to score great deals on campsaver and absolutelly freaking deals on STP, great solly clamps price from starthaus and evo also comes up with some great prices from time to time!

these days I find it hard to find great deals on sac or chainlove, still there but not the same as it used to be!

looks like they are ramping up a lot in bike stuff! high end yeti/sc/intense/ibis mtb for good price! some of the best deals to be had!
