Any thoughts on how to convert an old transevier in to a DIY Beacon gate?

How could you limit the proximity, so it only alarms when you pass close by?

A ski area I used to patrol at uses an old Pieps mounted near the door of the patrol shack to check patrollers' beacons as they leave. Turn it way down so it only gets people who are close by. I'm sure someone smart (not me) could figure out how to wire it so it trips a switch to open a gate.

Err - as mike said - if you have an old analogue beacon that functionality is built right in. Use the output signal from the Headphone jack to trigger the gate.

    Duh... Headphone jack.
I didn't believe in reincarnation when I was your age either.
