Will miss the man.
Will miss the man.
In with the 9.
Lou was a rock and roll animal... RIP, Lou.
One of my all time favorites:
Screw the net, Surf the backcountry!
RIP, a huge influence on everyone after him.
Sad to see him go, but glad he was here.
In 1970 there was probably not a person alive who thought Lou would live to age 70.
I have been in this State for 30 years and I am willing to admit that I am part of the problem.
"Happiest years of my life were earning < $8.00 and hour, collecting unemployment every spring and fall, no car, no debt and no responsibilities. 1984-1990 Park City UT"
Not waiting for the man any mo.
Thx for the groovy tunes Lou!
watch out for snakes
Never in U.S. history has the public chosen leadership this malevolent. The moral clarity of their decision is crystalline, particularly knowing how Trump will regard his slim margin as a “mandate” to do his worst. We’ve learned something about America that we didn’t know, or perhaps didn’t believe, and it’ll forever color our individual judgments of who and what we are.
Shouldn't have mailed himself to his girlfriend.
RIP Lou, so many great tunes.
You know, you can swear on this site. Fuck, shit bitch. See?
A gun is like a parachute. If you need one, and don’t have one, you’ll probably never need one again
Damn... Torn between shock that he's dead and shock that he lived that long... Great songs...
And the colored girls go "doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo...."
^ fucking poetry right there...
RIP indeed. Although I couldn't really get into his project with Metallica, The Velvet Underground stands the test of time. Quite a long life for a guy with an H "affection" too.
I think Neil Young did the tone deaf "spoken word" thing better.
Edit, and Velvet Underground is solid tunes.
RIP.
Terje was right.
"We're all kooks to somebody else." -Shelby Menzel
Rip Lou.
To the Thingmajigger!
Damn. Just got back from a longish ride, so hadn't yet heard.
One of my earliest childhood music memories is my parents cranking Transformer.
Oh man, that blows. Huge fan. I'd heard he'd been sick but that he was doing better. Apparently not.
Damn. Great rocker, great visionary, great poet. "What goes on in your mind?"
It's not my fault you can't telemark.
Not the most handsome couple but it seems they made it work. Good for them and much respect for both of their work.
I don't know, she's was kinda cute in her day.
Certain songs can take you back to a place and time. Strange how that happens. Take a Walk on the Wild Side is one if the most memorable songs of my life in this sense. A song that will take me back to a very specific place and time like no other song has or ever will.

I never understood. Perhaps because he was before my time. Was it what he stood for (a la Dylan), cause it sure wasn't his voice.
Interesting response. The VU was so incredibly groundbreaking...oh, here, just read this and get back to us if you have any questions:

This is something you'll be hearing for a day or two:
""Produced" by Warhol and met with total commercial indifference when it was released in early 1967, VU’s debut The Velvet Underground & Nico stands as a landmark on par with the Beatles' Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band and Bob Dylan's Blonde On Blonde."
or......
"Glam, punk and alternative rock are all unthinkable without his revelatory example."
Um, hey, they were OK, but, really? Rock critics, sheesh. As Zappa said, they're the ones sitting in the front row with bad skin taking notes. Or, as Lou Reed said himself, I spend a year slaving over an album and I get a B minus form some asshole at the Village Voice.
Lou Reed/VU mattered to so many because while Dylan is doing his beatnik thing and the Beatles are cranking out "A Hard Day's Night" he wrote this in 19-fucking-64:
It wouldn't get released on an album until VU & Nico came out in 1967, but NOBODY was writing and performing shit like that before them. Iggy Pop, the NY Dolls, pretty much anything you could call Punk/Alternative owes a huge debt of gratitude to Lou Reed.
