    GTA V

Picked up a PS3 copy on Saturday. One of the best games I've ever played, for sure.

When I get home from work this evening I'm going to steal a tank, use the tank as cover to steal a fighter jet, and then strafe Downtown Los Santos (aka Los Angeles). Good times.

Online launched today, although they're apparently experiencing a bunch of server issues. Might give it a few days to iron out.

Edit: Don't post any spoilers... I'm like 25% in to the storyline.

Also, here's Rockstar's page for online issues today: http://support.rockstargames.com/hc/...atest-Updates-

My favorite part so far is filming the celebrity Anal scene. One of the best games for sure

Just got to Trevor last night. Holy crap that guy is awesome in a terrifying meth head psychopath way. I did his first flying mission, and then immediately proceeded to the International airport and stole a jumbo jet because I fucking could.

If they get online working soon, I'm on xbox and would be down for carnage. I'll probably hold off downloading the update until they get shit figured out. I heard some people were having single player save issues from the online patch.

The best is switching to him when he's in the middle of doing random hilarious shit... e.g. throwing a biker off a bridge, sitting on a ledge in his tighty-whiteys, etc.

Be glad he's in tightywhiteys, he's usually ass-naked when I spawn him. Hilarious dude though. I wish the cheats were better though - weapons, tanks, stars, etc. It's too easy to die now - you can't even get out of a car with 2 stars on you.

Ok game boys, just how graphic/inappropriate is this for a 15 yo? We denied my son GTA V and he is pissed. Many of his friends and schoolmates have it and he thinks we're being prudes.

Umm, yeah. There are MULTIPLE reasons it's rated M for mature (17+). You saw iAm's comment above, right? "My favorite part so far is filming the celebrity Anal scene." It's a fantastic game, but definitely nothing you should be buying for your pissed off tween. I'm a huge fan of the entire GTA series, but it certainly pushes the envelope with each new version. No way I would ever buy that for my kids. Too many parents justify buying it for them saying "they'll just end up playing it at their friends' houses anyway." That's probably true, but that's no reason to endorse it by letting your own kid have it. Growing up, my friend's dad had a huge porn mag collection. Of course I went over there and checked it out. Does that mean it would have justified my parents buying a stack of Hustlers for me?

At least you're doing the right thing by asking so you can make an informed decision. Some games were WAY blown out of proportion by the media when I grew up, such as Doom. Always best to check things out for yourself first.

Well, you can pay strippers for lapdances and get a front row view of bare tits and a g string. Feel her up enough (but don't get caught by the bouncer) and throw enough money at her and you take her home. Lots of alcohol, drugs and drug usage. Violence is less graphic than the shooters these days, but the violence can be all on innocents in huge quantities. Major glorification of crime, detailed planning of heists, etc. If his friends all have it, he'll likely be playing it online with them and that's what he's pissed about.

That said, I started playing GTA 1 at age 14 and I thought running over the entire lineup of monks was the best thing ever. I turned out ok, kinda. It is fucking fun.

We already said no way, but he's spending a lot of energy trying to convince me. An anal scene is all I need to know.

Thanks for the input mags. I can now just tell him some assholes on the internet told me no way.

What about anal sex is worse than a blow job or any sex for that matter? Is it somehow worse for him to see? Because I'm pretty sure he has probably seen sex before and probably anal.

Buy purchasing it, he's endorsing the whole package as something that's ok. Endorsing a game the glorifies in explicit detail sex, drugs and violence isn't necessarily something that a parent wants to do for a 15 y.o. boy. I get it, I wouldn't buy it for my kid either. The fact that the game is graphic enough to denote that it is anal sex speaks to the level of graphic detail involved here. There's plenty of sex on network TV that is almost as graphic as what's in here, but they leave some things to the imagination. This doesn't.

And yes, the kid has probably seen it (and possibly done it). HOWEVER, it is not something any kid would do in front of his parents. The kid knows his parents do not endorse it. That is the difference.

My point being was he mentioned that an anal sex scene was all he needed to know. How about blowing away innocent people? Driving recklessly? Drug abuse? etc. Anal sex shouldn't be the determining factor is what I was getting at. I understand he doesn't want his 15 year old son playing the game, just his reasoning sounds pretty off to me.

I'm pretty sure he gets the rest of what's going on in the game. As far as specifically mentioning anal sex, here's what I'm getting at:

Last night's episode of Californication had a sex scene. You'd ask, well how was it? Eh, you didn't see shit. Last season was better.

Busty bimbos of Boston has an anal sex scene. I know exactly what I'm getting.

There's a difference. Not that it's anal, that it is in context of what you're actually watching.

There is no way in hell any kid that cannot purchase this on their own should be allowed to play the game.

    Shit is fucked

Agree with all. I was talking to my wife and co-workers about it, and I was saying there's no way in hell I'd let my future, potential kid have a copy until they were at least 17. In this case, I think the 17+ rating is spot on. Call of Duty, depends on the kid, IMO. This, not so much--for all the reasons listed above.

Anyway, back to the game itself... I tried to steal an attack heli from Fort Zancudo and was promptly blown out of the sky by a heat seeker. That's gonna be hard because it's slow. I got off the ground in the fighter jet easily, but stupidly crashed into the ground. The jet's way easier because it's so much faster. Some guy on the GTA Forums managed to steal the C-130, land it at the airport, and taxi to the hangar to save it. Skills there. Unfortunately it apparently respawns with a wing clipped through the hangar wall, glitches, and blows up immediately.

Trevor's missions for the celeb-obsessed British couple are fucking hilarious, by the way.

I wish Sony/Rockstar would get their shit together so I can play online.

I am loving the game. Last night I did the bank heist in Sandy Shores - seriously awesome.

Favorite part so far.... probably hijacking the cargo jet in midair.

My only gripe is the races are way too easy.

I haven't played a video game in a long ass time however I want to go buy this. Problem is I know I will sit on my ass after work for the next month playing if I do. I seriously have to make myself NOT go into GameStop every day as I pass by it.

Just go do it already. Makes sense to play it before ski season gets going, right?

This. And, yes, you'll likely play until all hours of the night even though you intended to go to bed at a reasonable hour. Fucking dopamine.

Bad timing... remember, the baseball playoffs are about to start and I'm pretty sure you're going to watch most every game.

Yeah, that was actually my main motivation not to. Shit, I have to leave work early Monday to hit the bar because j can't get home in time for game 1 and I don't have post season audio.
