STUPID QUESTION: How to adjust Marker Schizo for different BSLs?

Picked up a pair of Jester Schizos on a pair of used HellBents. They were mounted for 290-309 BSL, and I'm a 325. But it seems like only the 290-309 hole is drilled.

Do I have to get these tapped or something?

Flame away. I feel like an idiot anyway.

The screw will self tap into the fresh hole.

You'll need to slide toe piece forward off track, remove red clip, and remove bent cable from half moon slot. Place it into marked BSL slot and reverse it all back on ski.

    Cheers!

    Friday evening, Labor Day Weekend...

IIRC you probably can get away with the track as-is, albeit maybe giving up a few mm of movement. There are two things in play. 1) The plate in the middle of the toe and heel is graduated/marked in ranges - so you will ultimately need to remove the self tapping screw and re-do it in your range (which I suspect is different than where it is at); 2) You need to screw the binding all the way forward off the tracks. Push the little tabs to let it slide off... Underneath, there is a set of arcs in the plastic and - you guessed it - they are marked in ranges. Remove the wire loop(s) and get them in the right notches. IIRC, the early generations were very finicky about tucking them in just so. Then slide the toe/heel on and screw them back to where you want them and off you go... Again, IIRC forward pressure gets set the usual way for Jesters.

I think if you go that route without re-drilling, you will lose the better part of a cm or so forward/back. But +/- about 2cm seems a decent degree of freedom to me. Especially if you get to avoid redrilling.

Just noticed mountaingoat beat me to it...oh well...

I've always used the "290-309" setting for 315 and 320mm boots, the "right" length didn't work for some reason I can't remember. I have the first year's production ones from 08/09 or 09/10. Yeah, the "shitty" ones. I've skied them hard and they haven't broken.

Anyway, back your heelpiece all the way out (the same forward pressure adjustment as a normal Jester) and see how close it is. If it fits, you might not get the full 6cm adjustment range but you might not need it. Dismantle and reset the metal bar and cable if needed (as above) but you still might not get the full adjustment range unless you remount the tracks bigger. Mark where the screws fit on the heel track and watch where the heelpiece sits in relation to them.

The last time I mounted mine it was for a 320mm boot but I mounted for a 300mm to dodge the old holes and now only adjust from -1.5 to +1.5. It's a pretty nice system, just take a look at all the parts and you'll figure it out.
