    Good times!
Christ, as if there weren't enough stress for you already. Sounds like crews have been busting ass on the north side of the fire and making some progress. How're O & C holding up?

Spoke with a friend this morning who's working with IC. He told me, "7% contained.. they ain't gonna stop it in the park... its expected to burn through." Really short conversation, the rangers and fire crews are bringin' it.

Dropped it at the mechanic today. Self-diagnosis is electrical, but I'm no Cat diesel mechanic. Howard should have me back on the road tomorrow. Hoping to get some work out of this too, but we have not been called yet.

And yeah- wind is picking up. Direction not favorable.

They have a Yosemite webcam link off the inciweb page for the fire. Snaps every couple minutes.
It won't hotlink but I saved the latest shot as of this post.
I've heard the wind might shift more from the west.

You can watch a movie version of the days images. Click on the movie button bottom right, new window opens, click on make movie then download and click play. Good daily progression in image
    Keep hanging in there, Mike.

Couldn't get your link to work but you can hit movie on this link and see how it blew up all day at five minute intervals:

Today was the first in about a week that I saw blue sky.
Smoke from the Rim fire moved south but could see the smoke from the American fire to the north.

Huh. Weird. When I clicked on it on the fire forum it took me to the same page. Whatever. Yeah, pretty sweet how it stitches together for you.

You might want to advise him to avoid breathing that stuff. I've got an uncle who got a bunch dumped on him while working a fire (he is based in Nor Cal, not sure if he is on this on or not) and it messed him up.

    Cool video though.

No. It doesn't. This is already the biggest fire in the Sierra since CalFire has been keeping track (the 1930s), and the 13th biggest fire in state history, and it's only 15% contained.

Well actually it does happen every year, just not to this size and extent. If it were for 100+ years of fire suppression it wouldn't be this bad. Still a fire of this extent is bad on several fronts, mostly as a risk to the men and women on the lines...stay safe.

I agree it is a constitutional right for Americans to be assholes...its just too bad that so many take the opportunity...

Fires happen... Its a natural cycle... Obvioulsy no one wants anyone hurt but before humans fires would happen, keeps the forests more open.
