Wanted: OG The North Face Work Jacket - Yellow/Black (ala Scot Schmidt)

    Hey y'all,

Pretty much what the title says. Looking for an original yellow/black Scot Schmidt TNF Work Jacket (apparently that's what it was called?). This is for an editorial piece I'm working on. Scot never hung on to that old apparel, and TNF doesn't seem to have one in their archives either. I need to have it photographed. Shipping would be paid both ways to the photo studio, obviously, and the effort would be appreciated on a couple different levels, so I'm sure I could line up some swag to be sent your way as well. Needs to be in yellow/black as I have access to almost any other colorway.

Thanks in advance. Please hit me up via email vs on this thread or PM. I don't get on here too much anymore.

I've got one in XL. Might be the exact same one EW is wearing in that picture (or mine might be black where EW's in grey? I don't remember). I barely ever wore it, so it should be in pretty nice condition. Want me to take some pics? I've got the bib pants too.

You'll be swimming in them, but they're yours. They weren't with the coat (I did find some steezy turquoise spyder slalom pants if you want some skin tight lovin'?) but my wife claims she knows where they are.

Yellow & Black (newer than yellow/black/gray, as this was my replacement when some scumbag stole the older one):

    Thumbs up

Hey everyone, new to the forums , first post. Dont even know if this is gonna show up responding to a 5 year old thread but hey at least it's in the right spot. I am pretty knowledgable about TNF steep tech but am looking to expand my knowledge ( and my collection ). Just looking around for anyone out there who is better than google about Scot's coats.

Thanks! I hear ya, great white buffalo! Thee good old days...great times indeed.

ps. It's wrinkled from my non-fold storage technique recently. However yes she's been used much..so many stories and history while rocking this jacket. Pads removed because..who needs pads when you have snow. 😁

    Good luck on your search.

yes so this is the thread I found while trying to get more info on steep tech.
lurked around a bit and then found another thread that made me had to logup.
Scot is my HERO, I know I am not the first or the last to go on about how awesome he is.
I dreamt my whole adolescent and teenage life about owning yellow and black steep tech, but my family was just well enough that I actually got lift tickets, new jackets were out of the question.
In the heat of summer in 1999 my buddy and I were in a sports store in Toronto and on the back rack under the staircase and with dusty shoulders there were a blue and a red 1997 access jacket in medium with slashed prices.
They were both too small but we bought them anyway. By too small I mean it fit skin tight just fine if I wore a dryfit tee-shiirt underneat LOL
it was too precious to wear everyday and say that I lived in it, but any chance I could justifyable wear it I did. Camping climbing hiking, skiing, sightseeing, snowmobiling. I loved them in the first place for their materials, and it never once let me down.
In 2016 I got a yellow black and charcoal 1997 appogee with the matching pants from e-bay in pristine condition. Although I didn't get it cheap I didn't give an arm and leg either. I am VERY torn on whether to wear it or put it in a glass case and I star at it constantly.
( pics to come later ).
since I won't allow myselt to wear except for the best of days, I convinced my wife I needed a new winter coat
I E-bayed another apogee and got a decent deal on another ... but now is where the help is needed.
I Love it and that is all that really matters, but I don't know what year it is , I don't even know if it is actually legit or if it counterfeit.
and mportantly trying to find a vein I could follow to ever find the matching bibs.
Now that I have a few posts and am allowed to start a new thread I may do that as opposed to trying to revive this one.If I am to ever find some I know this is the place. ( again pics to follow once I get that figured out )
My best guess is thats it's a '95 , no kevlar shoulders , and the left zip goes all the way through as opossed to the pit zip going through
and its not the lemon yellow, and not orange but what I would prolly call Mango.

You're nuts. You'll fit right in here. Retro ski gear exists. eBay comes to mind.
I remember getting my Scot jacket for like half price at a ski shop in downtown boston, circa 1994. Rocked it every warm day at Vail, Breck, Copper, Beaver Creek and all over Tahoe, back in the day. awesome spring jacket, pit zips. wrist cuff elastics are shot and has some sweet paint stains but still solid 20 years later.
I've got a bunch of ski jackets I just can't part with. Here's the old Burton Jacket from 25 years ago. Red white and blue shell. Kid at the genius bar at the Apple store commented on the vintage, remembered the year it was made.
I'll post my Scot jacket when I find an old pic

Give this number a call @ The North Face. 855-500-8639 It's the warranty department. However they'll be able to help you out on identifying that sweet sweet og gear. If you can track down the identifying numbers [info from tags on items] on the garments in question they'll get you your years, actual product line/name for each piece and it's North Face named color scheme. Like my Tonar Shell/Jacket in Grape/True Blue/Blac, Circa 1989.

when I see this I think ZINCA sun balm and white reusch gloves
Growing up I was a very technical skier at a tiny ski hill, now when I go back, I just take the whole thing in ... with flexion, then extension. And yeah I am over it.
