Every single park rat trick is a direct decendent from this guy. Two Olympic medals and he was the 1st person ever to do a front flip on skis.
He lives part time in the summer up here in Montana these days. Supposedly a real good fly fisherman.
Hope he gets better.
"Zee damn fat skis are ruining zee piste !" -Oscar Schevlin
"Hike up your skirt and grow a dick you fucking crybaby" -what Bunion said to Harry at the top of The Headwaters
His hair was always perfect.
the pic in the attached article is priceless. take a look and bow to both champions!!!
more action than hef......god stein
I still remember him Doing Back and front flips off a Kicker they built for him @ (Ski Incline) in 1971. I guess around that time he just kinda toured around doing jumps at Different resorts?
But I still remember that day
He is getting on in years, But I would like to visit A ski resort some 13 or 14 years from now and watch Stien ski at 100 years old.

Great news. Stein is the man!

Saw him skiing under the chair at Sugarbush in '65 or '66. Unmistakable from 300 yards away. Coming right at us and passing underneath. He was running gates.....It was like seeing God, god, Buddah, Vishnu or whatever you worship................minus 20 and he was wearing the sweater and no hat...................
"Ski like Stein," said almost daily (in Aspen). Hope he's well.
Happy Birthday, Stein!
