Bale won it with a beauty.
Worth the 90min to watch a replay this evening?
game was meh - goal was pretty fucking good
"The Olympic speed of Bale..."
Holy hell Barca's season went downhill fast. Nasty free kick from Messi yesterday though.
And this is pure class.
I like this one.
what a snoozefest. Best quote of the match: "Are all these aimless crosses Simeone's personal tribute to David Moyes?"
I would have been happier watching Championship matches.
All part of mourhinos plan. Neutralize Athletico in Madrid and take back to London for a 1-0 win.
Sure could have used a goal to open it up.
Today's game now could be a barn burner.
Mourinho and boring, negative soccer? Color me surprised.
ETA: this just popped up in my FB feed:
Mourinho's post game remarks after a goalless draw between Chelsea and Tottenham in 2004:
"As we say in Portugal, they brought the bus and they left the bus in front of the goal.
"I would have been frustrated if I had been a supporter who paid £50 to watch this game because Spurs came to defend.
"I'm really frustrated because there was only one team looking to win, they only came not to concede - it's not fair for the football we played."
Oh the ironing...

Losing Cech and Terry makes it a bit of a Pyrrhic victory, no? There's sheafs of Mourinho quotes about parking the base blah de fucking blah. The more interesting bit, imo, is his comments re. the game vs. Liverpool this weekend. "throwing it" to give scouse the title would also weaken Pellegrini, the main rival for next season.
Or it could be the usual bullshit mindgame.
If chelsea wins its city's title.
Indeed, my bad. Haven't been paying attention to Prem League. I'm too focused on the shit show in Catalunya.
Guardian commentator Jacob Steinberg: "42 min: Pepe is a truly ridiculous individual, perhaps the worst footballer who ever lived. Watching him play, if you can call it that, is a deeply unpleasant experience. He was fairly challenged by Kroos in his own half on the left and, of course, he threw himself into the air and started rolling around, unable to believe he hadn't been given a free-kick, acting as if he'd been the victim of an egregious assault. Bayern keep attacking and Real are down a defender. But when Lahm looks around to make sure Pepe is okay, the eedjit, who was about to get up once he realised Webb wasn't interested, dropped back to the floor again and Lahm knocked the ball out of play. A few words come to mind, most of them containing four letters."
Pepe was #1 on their list of football pantomime villains, he's such a crook:

Fuck Pepe. What a total disgrace of a player.

Here's to hoping for an exciting second leg.
Yeah, definitely some dives in the compilation and Pepe's rep preceded him with that Alves incident (though he did go flying in studs up), but the deal with Pepe is that he's not just committing professional fouls or making mistimed tackles, he's out to hurt people. Week in and week out he's stamping hands, feet, and ankles. On top of that, he's a serial diver and con-artist.
As a Barca fan I'm totally biased, but I'd be ashamed to have Pepe on my team. And to be fair, it makes me cringe and yell at the TV when Busquets is rolling all over the floor, but at least he has some legit skills on the field.
ETA: a nice Pepe dive from earlier this year that led to 3 points for Madrid

WTF is wrong with referees? Did they award a penalty kick for that bullshit?
