I'm thinking I need to pull the trigger on a 2010 Ellsworth Moment. Looks like the bike for me, after thrashing my Giant AC frame for over ten years with multiple replacement/rebuilds of suspension and components.

Had a Moment years ago. I believe they have tweaked the a geo a bit but the suspension is still essentially the same. I like it at the time, finish quality sucked (fucked up welds inside the seat tube that tore the shit out of seat posts) other than that it was an ok bike. I say ok, because it doesn't really stand out anymore with the availability of so many other great bikes that do it all just a little better. I guess I'm saying Ellsworth, meh...
Demo some other stuff before you throw down if you can. Lots of awsome bikes out there these days.
Agreed with hick, Ellsworth were tits a few years ago but they haven't really seemed to keep up with other boutique companies that are constantly evolving and improving their designs (Santa Cruz and Yeti come to mind). Not to say that Ellsworth isn't the one for you, but be sure you've checked out and demo'd some of the other stuff out there before you pull that trigger.

Keeping with the above theme, if you are in love with technology from 2003, Ellsworth is the tits. But, most people who know a thing or two about bikes think that technology has maybe, just maybe, improved in the last ten years. So many better riding frames out there.
Not if you're Tony...
I demoed an Ellsworth for shits and giggles 2 years ago (I think it was a Moment, might have been something with a bit less travel). It pedaled well, descended ok. It didn't blow me away though, and there are better bikes out there. Ellsworth tries to get everyone to drink his ICT kool-aid; as mentioned, it's old tech and others have caught up or surpassed it IMHO. Word on the street is their CS has been shit too, I don't know if that's still true.
I find their marketing to be quite douchey, Tony to be pompous (in interviews), and overall I have no desire to support them.
If I were you I'd look at a Turner 5-spot, Knolly Chilcotin, Pivot Firebird or Mach 5, or even a Giant Reign. But of course I'm a fanboy of all of those and own a 5-spot FWIW.

Is the price ridiculously right?
Ellsworths ate my baby!

Agreed, antiquated suspension design to the point of being almost obsolete. Furthermore, I've heard of a lot of broken frames from them.
And they ate Scrublover's Baby.

yes i have met him. their CS used to be solid but i think it has nosedived in the past 5 years
one step forward, no step backward
seriously?
their CS was pretty much the worst in the industry 12 years ago!
Was just gonna chime in and say their customer service sucks, but it looks like we got that covered
Tony Ellsworth is a great marketer who knows very little about riding bikes and even less about designing them.
The Olde English "gangsta" font sure is badass, though, and they do have a kind of Hey I'm New To MTB And These Look Bling To Me sort of vibe that you can happily emanate at your local Whole Foods parking lot or "flow trails" access point carpark.
Always found their frames plain ol' ugly. Adding fuel to the fire!
If it's a smoking deal take it, they ride fine but there are better bikes out there
I've never understood why people get Ellsworth frames. They're fucking expensive and don't have a good track record. Back when I bought my 5Spot in 2004, everyone thought they were blingy. A ton of those Ells frames broke though within a year or less. Meanwhile, I beat the ever living shit out of my Spot for over 9 years. She just broke a month ago. Other people still have their old Spots going strong. Ellsworth just isn't worth the price IMHO.
