Well at least the skiing is getting bad enough that the fat biking is coming around. "So at least I got that going for me" [/Carl Spackler]
Rode up to the kiddy park a few days ago after close.. fun stuff.

It's done!!!!
Just switched over to 2 nate tires 120tpi, lightweight tubes and ditched the stock rim strip for cool white reflective tape. Also added some flat pedals, new seat and seatpost, and super wide 35mm DH bar with a shorter stem.
take no prisoners all mtn shred stick?? or is it the Ford explorer of bikes??? Who knows but it's sure fun as shit to ride!!
The wide bars and shorter stem made a huge improvement in getting control over that monster of a front tire. I don't have a scale but it feels like I dropped 4-5+ lbs off the bike and now it's down in the pedalable range instead of the "fuck this pig!" range on any sort of incline.

^^that is looking good!
Isothermal snowpack and now going into a freeze for few days. Riding could be really nice if it sets up solid. Woot woot!
Totally shut out todayNo crust or firmness formed at all and fuck it's soo deep. Tried to ride a deer trail to no avail. Went up and down snowbanks to make the best of a road ride.
I'm ready for the melt down here on the flats.
I'm gonna try tomorrow morning. Hoping that the 1" of sleet and many hours of rain and now real cold set things up. I know the snow on the side of my driveway has an inch thick crust but it is more sun affected than the trails.
Fuggin useless snowpack. Really need this stuff to consolidate so it can be ridden on. Maybe the warmish week ahead will do the trick.
Got out yesterday on some well traveled stuff and it was good, but the line was narrow. Getting a little bounce off line and I'd sink 8-10" instantly and then my foot would go up to my knee. It was fun and a little frustrating all at the same time. One thing for sure is it's one hell of a work out.
It's going to be a long spring once the temps stay above freezing all night....few feet of mush.
On the Iditabike yesterday Jay Petervary pushed his bike for ~36 miles, at a brisk 40 below 0.
Yikes.

Fortunately, centuries ago someone invented skis.
No kidding.

Found out today that a carbon Fatboy is in the works. No idea about release timing though. 27.5+ is also going to happen but didn't get confirmation if they are going to keep it at 3" or go bigger.
nooooooooo! wheel size debate on phattys too!
I am holding out for the 8.0 tyres.
watch out for snakes
Riding yesterday in the Yukon was amazing. First Annual Fat Bike Gran Fondo had a great turnout. After the event, finished the day with some riding on a partially frozen Bennet Lake in Carcross. Bike photog Dan Barham was in town doing some work for Tourism Yukon. Can't wait to see the finished product..
