I am now a senior citizen intermediate skier living in the Bay Area and need to have a new pair of boots fitted. Looking for someone nearby and reasonably priced but competent. Any suggestions?

Or go to Tahoe. Lots more options there.

In any case, if you're ever really in this situation make sure you at least bargain in a couple of fluffers.

Starthaus in Tahoe.
Cal ski is hit or miss IMHO.

Another vote for California ski company
If Paul is there I withdraw any reservations, he's really good.

I have a buddy in SF who is a ski boot fitter and now works for a podiatrist - he makes custom footbeds for the most fucked up feet you've ever seen - he can do liner and shell work - PM me if you would like an intro
I didn't believe in reincarnation when I was your age either.
Does anyone know if Paul from The Marmot store is still at California Ski Company?
Yep, Paul is there.
There is no such a thing as a good boot fitter in the Bay Area.. Tahoe might be your best bet. If you are ever in Salt Lake City, stop by Inkline and OC will hook you up. He is awesome

+1 for Paul - he's the man. Helped me getting my too-small TLT5s to fit and then when my GF bought boots there he was awesome and super patient.
Just want to put my vote in for California Ski Company in Berkeley. I had previously used elite feet at squaw which I loved. Paul and Greg are very good at what they do and took the time to get it right. Had custom footbed and an intuition done. Paul is very knowledgable on AT gear- v cool guy. Great boot fitting shop, take it seriously there, great service.
