    Snowbasin WFO area and Others

How is this area for snowboarders(moonshine, gunner, twist and shout, WFO)? Are there a ton of gullies to trap snowboards and force the hike out? Any of these areas have constant downward fall line like the Jackson Hole Hobacks without gullies to trap a boarder. Is it a dangerous area? Thanks for any help here.

It's an awesome area for snowboarding, there are no hikeouts, about the only thing you need to unstrap for is reaching the very top of the ridge above Moonshine if you want to get that additional vert...the payment is the runout road/cat track of "Last Chance" which really isnt that bad...very long but it has a nice slight pitch to keep you cruising. That whole area the fall line takes you right down to that runout so no worries.

Unless there is a massive storm soon that area is probably all done for the season at this point, the sun has taken it's toll on many aspects and the cat track out of there is probably core shot heaven at this point as it sita directly in the sun. We'll see what's up here with the later part of March.

Pretty sick area of that mountain, JP has good stuff too.
Love that mountain, have a season pass there this year...only con is i wish the base elevation was a little higher.

That day it nuked yes, there were 3 epic storms this season. The deepest was Jan-29, that was some of the deepest driest powder I have ever been in...literally choking on it. There were 3 ft+ pockets up near the top of Strawberry.

Thanks everyone. I just heard here say stories from friends about almost getting lost out there due to its vastness. Also heard there were avalanche signs around trees to the right of moonshine which said enter through gates, but my friends were just right of moonshine bowl. Why would there be avalanche signs, telling you to enter through gates when my friends said there were no gates except at the summit. They picked up these trails right at moonshine.
