    MLB.com and Roku

In the process of ditching my Direct TV. One regret was losing MLB Extra innings.

I bought a Roku and have been looking at MLB.com.

Cheaper, less blackouts (maybe?) and archived games within 2 hours of the last out, including blackout games.

    Anybody used this service?

    And what did ya think?
I have been in this State for 30 years and I am willing to admit that I am part of the problem.

I haven't used it on Roku for a live game yet, but I'm assuming it's similar to the MLB.tv streaming service... which is great. The only thing to be aware of is the blackout rule- depending on where you live, your favorite team's games might not be shown.

I'm just guessing, but the blackouts could probably be worked around using a proxy server.

I use it for PS3 and it's great. The blackouts are annoying as hell, particularly if your team isn't one that gets a lot of national airtime, but then you can just listen to the radio while doing something constructive like drinking. Or you can get around the blackouts using a proxy server (instructions here).

Playoffs and world series on mlb.com suck. You don't get the full broadcast-you can pick a number of cameras to view (up to 4 at once maybe?) don't get replays, etc.

Thanks for the responses, as I am in Montana and follow the Braves and As looks like no issues except when they are in Seattle.

I use it on Roku. Works great. I'm a Phillies fan living in BTV so I don't have the "local" blackouts. In general MLB.TV works best when you are an out of market fan. Giants fan living in Denver. Mets fan in SLC. That way there is no local blackout.

Sure the national blackouts suck but w/e. As for the playoffs... shiiiiiiit who wants to listen to Tim McCarver and Joe Buck anway.

The ability to watch any teams game, archived, is awesome. Also, if you get it for the Roku you have it for your computer and tablet as well. It's not like premium is limited to the Roku.

Or playing at the same time as Fox's nationally televised game. It's not just the conflict with the local team you have to worry about.

Not sure how it works vs. Braves games, as most Braves games are nationally televised.

The Braves haven't been nationally televised by Turner for some time now.

I've subscribed to the MLB.tv service before and felt like it was a really nice deal. I just wish it worked with my Wii.
