    Murder

Was talking with a friend who now lives in Seattle. About 10 years ago one of his daughters was murder (unsolved AFAIK).

The subject sort of came up and in general terms we talked about it and how it affected him and the rest of the family.

Got me to thinking, as you grow older death touches you one way or the other.

Had another friend I ran with when I was just out of school. When I moved away from Indiana we fell out of touch as he had gotten married, had a kid etc.

Turns out he was murdered outside a bar in a rough part of Indianapolis. Sounded like some sort of drug deal gone wrong and he was beaten to death with a tire iron and then sodomized, not to clear on the actual order of things. (sorry for the visuals).

Anyone else had someone your were somewhat close to dispatched by violence?
I have been in this State for 30 years and I am willing to admit that I am part of the problem.

Not that we're close, but I think Leroy Jenkins is about to be.
It makes perfect sense...until you think about it.

I suspect there's logic behind the madness, but I'm too dumb to see it.

My friend murdered another friend. Shot, stabbed and set the body on fire. Suffice to say he is no longer my friend. Drugs are bad mkay?

My sisters fiance was shot to death in a KFC drive thru in LA a long time ago, and a friend back in the Bay was stabbed to death in a JITB drive thru about 10+ years ago.
Not very fond of late night drive-thru's. Food isn't the only health risk.

Many times. i've had guns to my head at least a few times. I know people who have been murdered. One tried to rip off an ounce of meth when a gang was cutting up a pound. Another ripped off too many gangs and ironically a friends brother took him out. Drugs are not a game.

High school classmate got murdered when we were freshmen in college, that's as close as I've come. We were in different cities at the time though. Lost a bit of a crew through other things but just the one murder.

really? I feel like enough wrong place, wrong time things happen that anyone would have a chance of losing a friend to murder. Had a friend found killed and burned in his car in the middle of the desert, no idea why and as far as I know no clue were found. He was just backpacking.

I know a guy who had a young woman murdered over drug money. It's still one of our state's famous unsolved murders. In fact, a couple years ago there was a story about it in our newspaper talking about 30 years later there is still this unsolved horrific murder. Young mother goes out for a jog and disappears... only to have her body parts start showing up in the river. He paid a couple of guys with cocaine to do it.

I went to the cops, I was 16 at the time, and told them everything I knew. Names of all three guys, where they worked, where they killed her and how the guy was freaking out thinking the cops were on to him. Cops knew everything I told them and more. They asked me to wear a wire and buy drugs off the guy. But since he kills people, I declined. Cops then turned into douchebags and had little use for me or the info.

I worked at a shop that installed car audio and other shit. The murderer (rich drug dealer) would hang out and have the latest tech car gadgets installed. He was friends with my boss, who was a coke head, and came in once freaking out about the cops are watching him and know all about the murder and was planning to go to So. America and lay low. I didn’t hear much but my boss filled me in and told me to keep my mouth shut. So it was hearsay and the cops couldn’t use my information.

I almost want to name the sick fuck here. He’s still alive. His face was burned terribly as a youth so he looks like the scariest motherfucker you’ve ever seen, particularly knowing he has young women chopped up.

And yeah, using the alias because I’m still terrified of the fucker 30 years later.

Iceman chops up women, sets himself on fire, beats people with a tire iron, fires shots at KFC and steals meth. In jeans.

Someone had to say it. Terrible thread, BTW.

    Negative. It's Reece.

When I saw the 30 year story in the paper, I contacted the cops again. Told them names, etc. They didn't care.

Nope, don't really know anyone who got killed or died otherwise prematurely (not naturally). Weird, huh?
On a related note: If you're interested in murder and Seattle, check out "The Killing". GREAT series.
    No longer stuck.

This was huge news here in the NEK last year. http://abcnews.go.com/US/melissa-jen...ry?id=16019048
I was more of an acquaintance than a friend of the murdered woman but it still majorly sucked to find out she was murdered and then find out why and how she was murdered was even more disturbing.

Don't personally know anyone who's been murdered.

Suicide and natural causes account for the people I know who've stepped off and I count myself fortunate for that. Though, I guess suicide is self-murder.

I knew a guy (barely, he worked with my dad when I was a kid) who came home from work and his front door was slightly open, so he went inside. His house was being burglarized and he was shot dead in his entry way by the burglars.
