Looking for a song
This is really vague and a long shot, but I just had a memory of a song I used to know. The only lyric I can remember is something about going "down into Carlisle" or something like that, in fact the only part I'm sure of is "Carlisle". I think it might of been something like "We went into carlisle and (other place name)"
The song is sung by a man, it sounds like it might be an old irish folk song but its not super obvious that this is the case. It could also be a more modern song written in the style of an old folk song. I am pretty sure none of the words are obviously gaelic/archaic. Its in the minor key.
Ive tried googling lyrics but its hard to even pull up a lyric with Carlisle in it, seems its a common last night for musicians.
I'm pretty sure it is NOT Bonnie Prince Billy, but it kind of sounds like him. The voice is different though, its not him.
Anyone?
