    Wailer 112 Hybrid Mounting Point

    I'm 5'8, 175 lbs and have a pair of 184cm 112RPs.

Wondering what people think about the mounting points for these skis. On the line? Forward or back?

    Appreciate your thoughts.

its all about your style, snow, terrain and boot size.

    step 1 , style:
forward tip driver and a largish person - on the line
    neutral / turn pivoted - +2
    somewhere in between, +1

    step 2, snow:
rocky mountain (MT, UT, CO) - don;t move from above
PNW - move +1 from above.

    step 3, terrain/turns:
open fall line turns - don't move from above
like to make lots of turns or ski dense woods - move +1 from above

    step 4, feet:
tiny feet - +.5 from above
massive feet - -.5 from above
    go for rob

Chainsaw- I mounted 178cm hybrids on the 0 line with dynafits. I often feel like there isn't enough tail to the ski. Even though I don't jib, the more centered sidecut of my bentchetlers and S7s suits my turn. Starting over I would go with 184cm hybrids mounted forward.

Marshal- By your equation I would mount at +3 or +4. I'm wondering about remounting forward but also wonder if the +4 position is so far forward that it won't match the sidecut? Do you have experience on a +4 mount?

I'm on the line and would go +1 if I were to do it again (but not worth redrilling, they're still fantastic and versatile). For reference, 190cm hybrids, 5'9, 160 lb, 25 shells, driving the tips (that's what these skis like, especially when mounted on the line).

184 pures at zero, 25 shells, 5'8", 130 and I wouldn't dream of going forward. I find they respond best to centered/neutral stance. When I want to press the accelerator, I find that focusing pressure right in front of the toe works better than pressuring the tips or a more aggressive stance, which I feel can "bog" down the tips a little. Different strokes....

i am on center with dynaduke plates and could not be happier.
my tips do not get bogged riding the 190 and the tail is still effective on most surfaces.
blame andy though if this sucks ok?

I am 155lbs, very small feet, older than dirt, I put 4frt deadbolt demos on 184 pures so I was able to easily change boot center between back to back runs at every setting from -1 to +6 and I settled at between +4 and + 5 , my preference might have something to do with running JJ's for a couple of years ... YMMV

I rode 190 hybrids at +2 I think and the next year 184 pures at +4 and +1.5. I would say +4 is too far forward especially on such a reactive ski as the pure. The tip is just too hooky that far forward, although the balance point of the ski is perfect there.

+1.5 was a much more stable mounting position. On a hybrid and especially a longer one, you can get away with a more forward mount as the ski is less torsionally rigid and more forgiving.

I ski Kicking Horse blower pow and chop on fast steep lines. Jibby mid mountain and high speed groomers down low.

    .

Initialy I really liked the 112's at 0 then I found that I was slightly behind the action, because it was easy to move a demo toe I started moving forward and liked it

YMMV I found +6 too far forward because when I landed the ski sideways on hard snow the tips would catch 1st soI moved them back the binding seemed to finish up the season at +4 or 5

but even at +6 the 112's always planed me up out of the pow I never had to worry about subbing out going over the tips and last year was a good pow year up here

+1.5cm is my recommended mount for BC riders, inbounds or out. A little forward doesn't sacrifice float or stability, but nails the sweet spot for turn initiation and balance, and allows you to both drive the ski on the ball of the foot as well as a relaxed and more neutral stance.

190 Pures mounted on the line - 5'10", 165, 26.5 plug. Good on hi-spd groomed, surfing the tails in the soft stuff and everything in between.
