    It's a low volume, niche, product that's expensive to produce. Binding Freedom plates are still $120 and Jondrums a) doesn't have nearly as much overhead b) sells more volume (plate for plate) c) doesn't have rep commission or margin for retailers, etc.

    ^ I wonder if it was the first-generation two-hole Ultimate heel or the new three-hole version? That two-hole heel always looked kind of suspect. The toe though is absolutely brilliant.

    There have been a lot of swap plates produced and sold for under $75 - bombers, b & d's, old 22 designs, etc. You're leaving out a big X factor which is profit margin. It's really not that big of a deal - if I don't like them then t I'll sell them when the race is over.
