WWMD: Midweek hall pass 2/12-14/13 - where to go?

A buddy with a lot of frequent flyer miles is about to tell his boss to fuck off and wants me to join him for a midweek getaway next week, probably skiing Tuesday through Thursday.

Primary considerations, from most to least important: skiing and snow quality, travel time from SFO/SJC/OAK, lodging and lift pricing.

Where do we go? Whistler? (We both have Squalpine passes, so two free lift tickets each make it tempting.) Baker? Crystal? Montucky? Utard? Silverton?

    Input welcomed.

Are either or both of those going off? I really don't pay much attention beyond Tahoe, because I rarely go anywhere else.

Hard to predict where the snows gonna be, but if you and your buddy wanna ski and party for him blowing off work...I'd do Jackson.

Your Squaw pass included half price days at Alta, Aspen and Jackson.

If you can leave Monday there's a 4pm direct SFO-Aspen returning at 6pm Thursday. Free bus to town, good bars and girls. But probably the most expensive lodging.

Jackson has directs, but they leave in the middle of the day. Cheap lodging in town, but some logistical problems.

SLC-Alta is without a doubt the cheapest. You could catch an early flight, quick start a PC area the first day and then stay in a dive in SLC.

Maybe ANC? CPG's got to be getting fired up, give ONS a call?

Silverton is rarely a good choice for "quick travel time". And in any case I think they're only open Thurs-Sun.

Tahoe's the most awesome place on the planet why go anywhere else?

eastern bc, silverton, jackson, aspen, blah blah blah all will take a half day of travelling each way =/-, you are left with for short duration trips YVR, SEA, SLC and DEN. Of those YVR and SLC and DEN have skiing a relatively short drive with quality places to stay. Unless of course you like fucking farm animals, then there's Enumclaw near Crystal

SFO-ASE is scheduled at 2hr 8 minutes. There's a lift three hundred yards from the runway and town is only three miles further. But I'm sure you could kill a lot of time with the farm animals.

No place is going to be faster, but it would entail an extra nights lodging.

Actually, Jackson flights look good for me -- 12:40 from SFO arrives in JAC at 3:43 on Monday, 5:30 return flight to RNO via DEN arrives at 8:30.

I presume there's a Jackson thread somewhere. But anyone have any beta on current conditions?

FWIW, JAC...Heavy storm cycle recently but it's been wind/sun effected. More snow in the forecast though and good turns/times in jackson (stay in the Teton village unless you like public transport (17 min bus ride from town of Jackson). Crowd factor should be favorable for your travel dates with more people arriving for pres day weekend as you are leaving.

Jackson forecast here isn't super promising, but of course some of the biggest dumps come from 'scattered flurries' forecasts...

edit: i'd go to Anchorage or Cancun...

Jackson is looking likely. Any specific lodging suggestions?
