Increasing Forward lean - boot spoilers, heel lifts, etc question

I have recently moved to the Lange RS and am having a hard time getting use to the forward lean - or absence of it. I had heel lifts in my old Nordicas, which also had more forward lean. I am trying to recreate a little of what my old boots provided. I don't know that I need to be as far forward as I was, but I could use a little bit.

Is there anything I can do to increase forward lean other than the spoiler? And, does moving the spoiler down increase forward lean, or visa versa? Since the top of the spoiler is thicker I would assume moving it down would force you more forward?

I wish a heel lift was an option for me with the Langes. When I put one in I felt well balanced, but my feet were crushed. I have already had my boot board ground down and liner modified to allow room for my instep and I don't think there is anyway to get a lift in there.

So if a lift is out, do I move the spoiler up or down? And is there anything else I can do?

A forward lean shim will push your lower leg forward, and will reduce the angle between your lower leg and forefoot (ankle angle)

A heel lift will NOT push your leg forward and will open the ankle angle more

Sounds like you need a f lean shim. Or maybe a bit softer boot so you can flex the boot more forward

How did you modify the liner over the instep? Hacked it open and took out some foam?

Yes, liner hacked open and material take out of the lower tongue. I did not do the modification myself, but my boot fitter said there wasn't much too it and that I could pull out more myself if I wanted. My boot board was also ground down significantly.

Marshall - Is that an apples to apples change? Am I really just increasing ramp angle with the heel lift in the boot, which is what I would be doing by shimming the binding heel? To me it feels like I am in a different position in the boot itself that is more athletic and comfortable. Thanks for the response.

ramp angle changes your forward lean but does not change your ankle angle

a heel lift in your boot opens your ankle angle but does not do much (slightly more upright) to the forward lean

a cuff spoiler closes the ankle angle and increases the forward lean.

    hope that helps?

    Thanks Marshall.

Perhaps opening my ankle puts me in a more athletic and comfortable position. I am really just going on feel more than anything, and I know the heel lift feels good.
