Marker Jester/Griffon adjustment range

I bought a pair of used skis which are drilled for griffons and the previous rider had a size 28.5~ boot unknown bsl. My boot is a size 26.5 - 307bsl. When I put the toe of my boot in line with the rear screw holes for the toe of the binding - the heel of the boot extends a few mm past (rearward) the front screw holes for the heel of the binding. I'm not sure how much adjustment range is available for the binding and where in this adjustment range the previous rider was (the size 28.5 boot) but wondering if, based on how my boot lines up, I'm anywhere close or if I should expect a remount on the ski - I'm trying not to swiss cheese this one if possible.
I took this to my local shop and asked them if I could borrow a griffon and slide the heel all the way forward and line up the screw holes to get an idea of if it was going to fit, and the guy pulled out the jig and told me it wasn't the right size for the boot. So I left. And I would rather not waste time/money going to another shop if it's obviously going to work/not work so I figured I would ask here first.

2 full sizes sounds like it will likely be too much. That's usually about 2cm difference, so if the previous owner had their heel at the back of the range it MIGHT work, but I'd say not likely.

^^^ plus even if it just fits, your forward pressure would likely be too light. I'm not a Marker expert but is the demo heel track baseplate drilled to the same hole pattern, or even if two of the exiting holes line up...your boot center will be off a bit but...

Thanks for the replies - demo track is a good idea. After the replies I no longer have the idea that these are going to be mounted with markers. I just have a pair of griffons that is accessible but not in hand and thought I might be able to get out of this cheap, but it looks like that isn't going to happen.

Yes... Get a heel plate from a demo. Same mounting pattern but WAY more adjustment range due to the longer worm screw track.

Interesting that the Marker site doesn't give specs for adjustment range. (FWIW I have a pair of Solly z12's--range of 28 mm/3.5 US sizes--mounted for 27.5Mondo, and my sons 26.5 boots just barely fit with proper forward pressure. BSL difference is 10mm.)

For the Grif/Jester its about 2.5cm, if you use the rear demo track its about 5 cm. And likewise, you won't get more than +1/-1 mondo if you're in the middle of the non-demo track.

I was cat skiing yesterday and at the end of the day the guide handed me my ski with the heel piece completely unattached from the ski. I have no idea what he did when taking it out of the ski rack on the snow cat but I’m thinking it is probably the forward pressure being too far forward and maxed out on the heel track. I had the skis mounted for older boots and I have since sized down by 10mm BSL (went from 315 to 305) so I’m thinking I didn’t have enough room on the original mount to adjust for the smaller boot… sound accurate? Should I re-drill?

I slid the heel piece back on and backed off the forward pressure a click or two and everything seems peachy with no slop or play but now I have visions in my head of my bindings falling apart in the middle of a run.

The bindings are normal Jesters (16 din, not Jester Pros) from 2 years ago (white/black/green color scheme)

I've mounted Jester/Griffon several times using bindingfreedom paper template.
It seemed that there was only 8-10mm forward adjustment range and 15mm or more backward.
Since I found that, I mount heel pieces 2-3mm forward.
I don't know the gap comes from bindingfreedom paper template or original design by Marker.

If I were you, I'd remount only heel pieces 15mm forward.

What's the consensus on this? Really depends on how the plate was placed for the original mount?

I just bought some skis mounted 2x. One set of holes were for Jesters at 317 BSL. I am skiing 306 BSL. Could I pop Jesters in the old holes and make it work? Or am I asking for trouble? Never fond of Markers anyway.

Plan B is to just mount a 3rd time (something I never do) with Attacks and hope hole pattern is different enough.
