In all fairness, many thought that the suspension from the team was harsh. I know I do.
Someone shoved a mike into his face minutes after he blew his GS run and asked a question about the good results of his teammates (Pinturault earned bronze)... His answer was emotional and inapropriate but blunt and honest. And he did apologize afterwards.
They should have dealt with the issue in private IMO. Or maybe he had an history of being a douche, I don't know, but that's not my impression and it never transpired to the press earlier.

Yeah, I'd bet there's more to the story, maybe prior warnings. Or maybe the French team had a hard stop policy on exhibiting grace in defeat a la Jean van de Velde at Carnoustie. A few years ago I did a deal with a French businessman who apologized for Bernard Hinault trying to fuck over Greg Lemond, claiming, "We don't act like that. Maybe it was the steroids."

The discontinuity and also illness of the Olympics seem to have her in a bit of maintenance mode. It will be interesting to see how much muscle she adds after things wrap up this season, as she still seems committed to improving even more for speed events long-term.
