Nostalgia in TV (am I old?)

I've recently begun watching Law & Order episodes from 10-15 years ago. Not intentionally, it's on at 9pm here after the kids go to bed.

But what I find startling is how much I like it. I think it's the nostalgia of seeing how society functioned before cell phones were normal. I find 24 and NCIS unwatchable.

    Mad Men is awesome too.

Am I old if I dislike modern fast-paced TV? Or just nostalgic for simpler times?

I find the multilingual days of yore to be far more palatable than today's monolingual fare...

Increasingly, I think the problem is that the four major networks are out of touch with what people want to see. They produce a glossy package they think is somehow cutting edge. They seem to be able to take just about any creative idea and kill it. (ie. One Second After) Some of the great shows on right now are not following the formula. TV viewership is dropping drastically because of online options. TV is over.

Loved that show. Right there with the Wire in my book. Same source material and everything too of course.

Night Court was a pretty good show.
It makes perfect sense...until you think about it.

I suspect there's logic behind the madness, but I'm too dumb to see it.

I haven't regularly watched a network shoe in a couple of years. I'm sure I'm missing something good but maybe not and to be honest I don't care. I can't cut the cable because I'm not watching live sports on the computer.

Mad Men bores the ever living shit out of me but I think I dislike it for the reasons you like it. I'm also a monolingual though.

Not surprising. This is the last network shoe I can remember:

Rockford Files, James Garner taught me how to drive.

I saw a "the making of..." show about The Rockford Files, and one of the interviews was with one of the stunt drivers, who said that Garner did a lot of his own driving scenes. Later in the show, Garner took the interviewer for a little drive in one of the Trans Ams, and proved it.

Garner & McQueen used to do most of their own driving stunts.

I miss Magnum PI. Loved that show, mainly because it's the first one my Dad let me stay up late to watch with him.

The only other Primetime show from my childhood I still remember fondly is Dr. Who, but they're still making them. I liked the Low-Fi version better tho.

10-15 years, ha. I've been watching old Airwolf episodes on Netflix.
