    Flying with your dog questions.

I'm scooting back down to Santiago with my pooch, and its been a while since i flew a dog.

What crates are certified as ok? I know some look ok, but can be rejected at the counter for poor workmanship on the chinese part.

    Airlines etc?

    Tips tricks?

I should know all this, but its been 10 yrs and I dont want my Aussie bailing out over the amazon.

If it were me I'd check with the airline, I'm sure they can be pretty authoritative on what their guidelines are. Just sayin'.

Check with the airline you are flying, they all have different requirements. Also check with the Chilean consulate. Some countries have incredibly difficult requirements. I doubt Chile is one of them, but you never know most airlines and countries require a health certificate and a current rabies vax. I just sent a dog to Costa Rica, and they required a worm vaccination (of which there is no such thing, but we figured out they wanted an invermectin injection. )

Get your dog used to the crate early. Feed him near/in it, let him sleep in it, etc. Try to get a non-stop or at least direct flight. I do not recommend tranquilizers, at least not for the dog. I want them best able to adjust to hot or cold as needed.

What crate did you use? I hear the ones you find at Petco are no good.

Sorry to mislead you, I didn't actually send the dog, I just do the vet work, ( and provide dental services for internationally traveling pets.)

Vari Kennels are some of the best out there.
