    1. 1 pair, trashed from skiing the previous season, for the emergency kit in my truck.
    2. 2 pair for the resort/touring, alternate to the dry pair for trips where I'm sleeping in my truck. Usually go through a pair a season; rotate the trashed pair to my truck, and donate the previous pair in my truck to the local homeless shelter.
    3. 3 brand new backup pairs, as I can't resist buying flylow gear at 70% off, and I now have ski pants for the next few seasons.

Same situation with jackets and gloves.

WTF, where are you guys skiing that you need insulated pants? I've got probably 4 pairs but really only use 2 one softshell and one proshell.

I bought a pair but your right it has to be really cold to use them or I have to have just a shirt and jacket with pit zips open not to over heat.

    One pair.

In the spring, if the sun is shining or only light precip (snow) is expected I'll wear my nylon hiking pants.

I don't ski in the rain if I can absolutely help it.

2 pairs. One black, one blue. Same model. Non-insulated. I feel like they last longer when I alternate, and I hate pulling on pants in the morning that still have wet cuffs.
