$20, 1 lift. Monies goes to the ski team.
I'd rather hike/skin at this point, but that's pretty cool they're doing that.

Thanks, I'll check them out. I usually don't drive up when it's actively snowing so the return thing sounds like a pretty cool deal.
North Tahoe swap--the best of the swaps--Oct 27. Don't miss it--see my post in your thread.

Damn knee. Does not want me to hike/skin right now, yet. Getting old sucks.

Fortunately, Boreal is announcing Friday 9 am for $15, Sat & Sun for $30. Beyond TBD.

    See ya there Friday.

Would've been great if they could've waited for the weekend -- the fundraising aspect would certainly improve. But nice anyway.

They mention podium parking, whatever that is, under all the new condo/hotel buildings. Phase 1 mentions a 500 car offsite lot, but not where it will be or transportation from the lot. The project will eventually consume ALL of the current surface parking, (don't know about the parking back towards employee housing.) I suspect day users will have to be shuttled in from who knows where (there's not a lot of land for parking anywhere that I'm aware of and the EIR should discuss the impact of new off site lots) and/or pay to park. I might try to go to the meeting.
anybody have details about the timberline twister project? it's not part of the specific area plan described above ^^^

it looks like it is primarily a publicity stunt to be able to say they are the first CA resort to open.

Stoked to see all the riding shots! I'm tempted but I'm gonna wait this one out 'til we get more on the ground. Must be more cautious since I turned the big 4 - 0 this summer. Can't wait for the next storm!!

got to love instant winter in the sierra. quick break in storms allow for a base to develop beneath the larger cell hitting the coast right as game 7 in sf was ending in a deluge w only enough time to finish cause it was a blowout. one of the better 1st couple days of the season since it snowed 3' at kwood back in 200??. a bit more wind effect today in the high alpine. blue tomorrow am. get it

Me'n Corky did a late afternoon schuss on the Slide side o' Rose this afternoon.

Snow was soft and deep in spots and I post-holed up to my waist more'n once on the hike in, so it's loaded up nicely in spots. That said, I did skate over my fair share of granite on the way down, but that's mostly 'cuz I don't know the mountain that well (Corky didn't hit anything on our lap down Bonanza).

It was a good warm-up and nice way to start the season. FWIW, this may be the first year where my seasons ended and began in the same month (I skied Dunderberg on Oct. 7th for my last day of the 11/12 season).

No pix cuz we're both luddites.

Oh yeah, the park style kids were having a serious conclave up at the summit of Mt. Rose Hwy. At least 20 folks sessioning a pipe and rail they'd lugged up there.

This might be a stupid question, but if I don't ask, I'll never know. For three years as a kid we lived in Monterey. We skied the shit out of Heavenly. Admittedly, I was like 8-10 years old at the time and it was 30+ years ago and I haven't been back since, but I loved the place: lots of options, big enought to spread out the crowds, great slopeside services. But I never seem to hear the Tahoe mags so much as mention the place. Why is that?
