SE Michigan / Ontario / E Ohio mags...

Seriously considering a road trip to hit MRG tonight & ski Fri, Sat, and Sun AM...

If I can get a rider or two it'll change from "seriously considering" to "leaving in 4 hours for..."

    IM if interested.

Edit: scratch mrg... Magic or Hunter.

Found another honey hole this past weekend...

Amazing what sub zero temps do to powders shelf life; love me some polar vortex.

Edit : can't figure out how to link the pix from my phone... will fix later. For now, just imagine legit knee deep creamy goodness in the mitten. Even had a dog crap in the skin track so Colorado's hot nothing on us.

I mostly only Nordic in the MW, but this has been the best season I can remember. It warmed up above freezing for the first time in maybe a month, so the track was a little crusty this morning. Now we're getting another 4-8".

I don't mind sled tracks, but I hate 4 wheelers fish tailing and doing donuts on my trails.
My dogs don't shit in the track, but they sure do like to run in it.

Me too. Having lotsa au naturel fun in west Michigan hidey holes. I even had a legit avalanche! Our problem is krummholz. It takes so much snow to cover all the shrubbery that we don't get to ski "the forest" too often. But this year, it's on anywhere you can travel. I'm skiing stuff which may never have been skied. Haven't skied Nordic too much this year, which is usually the go-to skiing for our typical zero to low snow pack. 6 inch refresh inbound now!

We have a very active equestrian trail riders club that does all the trail maintenance and mowing. Without them, there wouldn't be any trails.

We are going to be slednecking unfortunately; got a guy who blew an ACL last year so we're staying off the skis as that will wear him out way faster. I originally was going with buddies to whitecap, which is supposed to get as much as 2 feet with this storm. Kind of a crazy storm for here.

I've never seen thunder slush before. Snowpack went isothermic.

    mqt ditto.

    don't come here,
There are 12,000 little racers cunting up our tiny hill. There were 5 courses set at once the other day, liftlines, people ruining well-established tree lines trying to gape through on Minnesota skis. Coaches yelling at people at the bottom of the chair.

We lost 2 feet of snowpack in 2 days. This glop is going to freeze into horror death shitfuck crud when it's -10 next week.

Flat looks like the storm was a bust. Still heading up to visit friends and see what conditions are. If the bridge re opens by the time we get there. Never had it close on me before. Seems to be a lot of hype on this storm, me included. Haven't had any pow for awhile and might have pre'ed a bit.

I am currently being told to go home from work here. More wind than snow...30mph sustained wind for the last hour projected to grow even more. If the lifts do spin tommorow at boho, for sure there will be severe wind loading.

Wind doesn't move glop. This shit is falling as slush. Maybe if the temp drops 10 degrees and it starts nuking...

People are stupid, the news has everyone all tripped out over 2 inches of glop. I'll believe all this hype when there's something deeper than the toepiece of my bindings.

This is horse shit. They've got the Mac shut down. People just need to realize its winter. I mean the high winds just don't let semis over. Come on!

Well, just now home from the hill. Shitfuck conditions have indeed taken hold. Breakable suncrust over refrozen glop over ice is the prevailing natural condition. Refrozen corduroy interspersed with refrozen ruts and piles elsewhere.

In all fairness though, I did find it possible to ski some of this shit into a not-unenjoyable, wispy, granular-type sugary consistency by hammering the same line like 10 times in a row with my fatass.

So then... Boyne got a foot of fresh overnight& still falling. I'll be up in the morning to do a little touring. If anyone is similarly inclined, PM me. I'm hitting a great spot - you won't be disappointed.

Kicker skins are enough for the ups.

Detroit metro mags willing to split has to the front of the line. Leaving around 6am
