55 degrees at Paradise today and the inversion is only going to get stronger this week. See if we can break 60?

Let's start a pool on how long this will last. I'm saying consistent snowfall and lack of temp inversion doesn't return 'til Feb 16.

Fun night skiing at Alpental on the smooth snow, but we were distracted by the ongoing SAR mission to rescue a pair of skiers from Chair area. Lots of people and trucks to help and a chopper in the air. Some details: http://www.komonews.com/news/local/R...187071081.html

I was hoping for the north faces to stay nice. I was wrong, at least east of the crest. It's Fucking terrible. No powder, just hot winds blowing from the west.

I bet this sticks around until next January.

Actually, now that I reread this, I noticed you spelled whore incorrectly. Maybe you're mind was thinking of all the hoar frost accumulating at night now?

yeah, it was an intentional spelling.

Willie, I'll be up there tonight as well pursuing the hard snow agenda on appropriate sticks.

Seriously? Damn, I was hoping sheltered N. facing aspects might still have some stale pow by this weekend. I wanted to break my new touring rig in on something decent. Guess I'll see how well it does in a survival situation...

Mofro - look for the bright blue pants, blue hat, and old red & blue Mojo 90s. Beer's on me if you catch up with us. Should be three of us bombing around together.

North facing slopes well east of the crest held a foot or more of facets Monday and Tuesday, will check out more tomorrow and see if the warm up did any damage. Unless there is direct sunlight around here highs in the upper 30's doesn't seem to bother the snow much this time of year.

The snow was surprsingly good. Firm, fast, fun.
But not as fast as Mofro I'll bet.

Sorry Willie I never saw you guys, though I was kind of split between laps on Ch1 and the gate bashing shenanigans over on Ch3 most of the night. The inversion made it a bit of a balmy evening above mid mtn, though the snow on the lower hill was in very good condition for hard pack cruising and was indeed TripleF.

Back up again for more abuse tonight.

Yes, E and W of the ski area N slopes held great cold snow, wind and rain crusts rotted out to bottomless facets in spots, mostly boot top penetration. This down to about 2500 feet, skiing from @ 6700' down, better skiing lower elevations. Great skiing, doesn't bode well for the future and new snow. Even with the warm up today was nice skiing on anything by 1000 when I was out.

No worries! I'm sure we'll run into each other one of these days, though whether I'll be buying the beer then is anyone's guess.

You don't really SEE him, it's more like you sense his presence. Like a ghost, except it's not a cold shudder. Kind of like a warm fuzzy.
    That rips.
