Was this something special back in the day? Looks like something out of Breaking Away....
Go that way really REALLY fast. If something gets in your way, TURN!

Nishiki made good stuff. Is there any indication of what kind of tubes were used? The brakes tell me it is an older version of the bike, and some forum posts say that some years were made with generic Hi-Ten steel while other years used nice Tange tubesets.
If it has the nice tubes (likely if it also has a top end suntour group), then it could be a good candidate for restoration to some newer parts...but it is definitely not ready to ride and personally I wouldn't bother bother trying work with the existing parts unless you really love vintage shifting.

That's a big boy frame! I would also check to see if it has 27" wheels or 700c, 27" is kind of a headache to convert and if you don't tire choice is very limited.
I had a Nishiki Century that I put a lot of miles on... It was my first "road bike". I got it from a garage sale, used it as a commuter to get to class, did some triathlon stuff with it, got in to the collegiate cycling scene, and then eventually turned it into a gravel grinder when I got that fancy carbon frame. I was pretty proud of it at one point... Haha.

Buuuuuump....
Hung the fat ti on the wall. Looks cool, is bike art, makes room in the garage win win win win win!
Kid saw it this afternoon, and was like, "what! Dad! Your bike is on the wall!" At which point the wife was like ,"what? No way. You are not doing that.".
Of course I am. She never goes over there anyway. It's art i tell you.

Awesome. I've been looking for the right bike to put on the wall for many, many years. That one's certainly worthy.

Saw an 18 speed Jamis hanging out at the snow line on City Creek today, homie passed us on the way down with a pair of classic XC skis on his back and birks on his feet.
The group of hipsters that passed us on their rigid stumpjumpers and caads from the 90s looked clueless in comparison.

When I opened up my shop, I managed to find my favorite display item.
My early MTB life lust-after bike I could never afford:
(Image not mine)
Manitou FS. The one with the Manitou fork used as seat stays.
The most beautiful CNC work ever put into a bike frame. I even found a rare one without head tube cracking.

Gorgeous. Something about oversize aluminum tubing really does it for me.

My Mom's old Trek, still somehow a blast to ride in slow northeast tech (this pic was taken at Daniel's Road state forest)
I upgraded the tires and put modern flat pedals on it, but other than that it is bone stock straight from 199_
I really like the butted steel tubing and the British racing green colorLast edited by McShortyShorts; 02-24-2023 at 01:42 PM. Reason: pic too small
