I've got Mercurys and will compare them by skiing vulcan on one foot and mercury on the other. But it won't be till I get on snow. Both production
i could do laps around you
I currently ski in a dobi 150, lots of foot work to get them to fit. . I am a 12 shoe size and downsize to a us 9 (eu8) 314 sole length.
I tried on some tlt's and can not even get my foot in the 27 (which i believe is like a 305 mm sole length). Trying to figure out what size to buy. No one around here has them.
SO two questions, One reccomendations on how to size ? And when do they expect to see them in retail shops.
ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR VULCAN MIND!!!!

Tried today the mercury in a shop. They have a bit more toe room than my maestrale rs, and a less progressive flex.... Dunno though what a shop session can tell about flex on the snow... :-/
I think a shop test can test the quality of the flex, not the stiffness, but only when you're clicked into a binding. Otherwise you can't get your weight far enough forward to simulate skiing forces, and how the boot feels deep in its progression.
Having had the production Vulcans I can now confirm they ski with substantially better feel than the pre-productions. No more brick wall feeling. Still that awesome solid confidence lateral stiffness but no more hitting the wall feeling for fore-aft. In order of boots I've fallen in love with over the years in terms of quality of feel I'd have rate (in order of boots I love the most)
- Vulcan
- Maestrale and Maestrale RS
- Mercury/Titan/ZZeus --- tied
After my first weekend on the Vulcans I'd have to agree with Lee. Over the past couple years I've done all my skiing on adrenalins, tlt5 mountains, the green machines and titan UL, and none of them hold a candle to the vulcan. Once I get more time on them I can hopefully go into more detail, but that won't be until the end of the month since I have finals coming up.
Literally just put the Vulcan on my foot with the Intuition liner from the RS (Pro Tour?) -- the fit and flex seems fucking perfect. Everything I wanted the RS to be. For me personally, the RS was a little soft even with a powerwrap and 3-ply booster strap. Again for my foot, the Cochise 120 (first version) was too stiff (also with a powerwrap) and it really felt like I was hitting a brick wall. While I wouldn't call the Vulcan progressive, it's certainly better than I expected. Instep volume is a little low and will likely need some punching (same issue with RS), but everything else seems money.
Will report back after I've had them on snow, but I couldn't contain my enthusiasm (and surprise) at how well these fit and flex. I had tried the Mercury on in-store without an intuition liner and was kind of disappointed about the fit and what I felt like was a fairly-harsh forward flex.

Bumping for sizing question I couldn't find elsewhere. Is anyone sizing down from the Titan to Mercury/Vulcan?
I'm currently in a 27 titan (312 bsl), great fit, and got my foot in a 27 One (304 bsl). The One surprisingly had notably more toe room. I'm in market for mercury or vulcan and now considering sizing down to a 26 (294 bsl), albeit expecting a small amount of toe box work. Seems crazy that I could be happy in both a 312 and 294 bsl -- or is there something about the boot design that makes this more reasonable?

Size down. More than one Seattle friend has had to go that route. I used to be a ZZeus 27, and I'm a Vulcan 26 by shell fit. Just means you gotta mount your dynafits somewhere between your BSLs.
wait!!!! waitwaitwaitwaitwaitwaitwaitwait...Wait!
Zoolander wasn't a documentary?
i was a titan and zzeus 27 and a Vulcan and Mercury 27
Yeah, I really shouldn't be trying to down size my touring boots. Just that I've got these stupid long toes. Super low volume foot, tiny ankles, long toes. Always feel like I'm better off sizing to my foot and making room in the toe box
