    Powerball simulator

Man, that's depressing. So far I'm at 27 years and still haven' won more than $7.

    A $.06 ROI.

Yeah, you have like a 1-in-100,000,000,000 chance in winning...

"But if I buy 20 tickets, ill increase my odds 20 times!!"

Nope. Still less than 1 in 100 billion

Took me six years to get to $100. Not bad, an eight-cent return on every dollar spent.

In real life, a few years ago I got the first four numbers in the Colorado Lottery... my heart was beating pretty fast until I saw the last two numbers weren't even close. I think I won around $50 for that- so I'm in the black, baby.

This exactly why I spend a grand total of roughly <$5 per year on lottery tickets.

Currently at 550 years, $9100 in winnings, $116,000 spent, $0.08 ROI

    HA!
    Only took me 1,938 years...

of course it only bumped up my ROI to $0.10 from 0.08

Note: Switching to Powerplay roughly doubles my ROI

After 5000years and $1.5 million later I still haven't even won the $40,000 jackpot. I know I'll get it someday. Must... keep... trying!

p.s. My ROI is at .14! Suckers!

That's cause your powerplaying. I'm at .20 with powerplay on.

Little note toward the bottom of the imulators page:
"If you leave the simulator running 24/7 at max speed, you should hit the jackpot about once every 20 days. Playing the real lottery, you would win the jackpot once every 1,684,000 years on average."

    Think that's bad, consider Keno.

80 numbers and much less payout.

    Keno is awful.

At over 6000 years now. Only one $10,000 payout. My win frequency is starting to match the odds pretty closely.

Oh, and at this point, even if I win a $1,000,000 prize, I'm still in the hole.

.24 ROI, hit a 40K pop at around year 400. You guys have unclicked the "stop" box on the last three highest payouts correct?

Hit the 40K payout at year 300 -- ended up with a $0.57 ROI, gonna let 'er rip for a while longer.

I just had a duh moment. I thought the "stop" function just filtered out the opportunity to win the higher payouts, not, as I think you correctly point out, to stop the simulation once that jackpot is hit.

I was at around .15 ROI after 5 years of tickets. Assuming a similar ROI, I wonder if there is a real estate investor in Detroit who should have sold all his/her property in 2007 and bought powerball tickets instead.

edit: just hit a 2m pop at about 2500 years. I'm up 1.3 million now. If I ever actually win the powerball, I am going to put 800K aside for more powerball tickets. I am also going to buy ten thousand monkeys and give them all a typewriter and make provisions to have them and their progeny cared for for ten thousand years. Can't wait for my Opus.

    This all makes perfect sense.

Spent $3,120 in 10 years and won $393 but lost $2,728

This is why you should only run a lottery and not play one

reminds me, couple weeks ago had a layover in vegas. played $1 in slots
    bet $0.25 lost
    bet $0.25 lost
bet $0.50 hit 3 bars and won 20 points $5

I immediately redeemed my code and went and partially bought lunch with my $4 profit

One thing I did just think of. If I lived another 60 years (unlikely) and played every game it would be about 18K. In the grand scheme about how little that is for someone who is able to max out their 401k every year it is a pretty negligible amount in the long run for a chance to win big money. I still never play though.

Hope we don't have to wait 20 days for a mag to screen cap hitting the jackpot.
