Anybody else have this problem? (Ortovox S1)

The other day I changed the battaries in my S1 (Original, not S1+) that was working fine and when I turned it back on the screen failed to turn on and when opened and in search mode it did not make any noise like it was searching. It can however be picked up when its transmitting by another beacon. Im currently talking with Ortovox but was curious if anybody else has had the same or similar problems.

Had a similar issue with my S1. Screen wouldnt work, could be picked up with other beacons and mine would make a real faint beeping noise when other beacons were around. Like it was picking them up in analog.

I sent my three month old beacon that was in perfect shape back to Ortovox and they sent me a beat up, scratched up, S1 that worked with a frayed harness. Needless to say, I was pretty unimpressed with their warranty program.

not the same brand or model beacon, but I put a cooler in the back of my car and accidentally left the drain plug open, and it leaked, and since my car has one of those plastic deals in the back, my beacon (Barryvox pulse) got a little wet... I took the batteries out and dried it off and it worked fine, but then started doing something similar... weird beeping, screen not working, wouldn't turn off, wouldn't search... I didn't try to pick it up with another beacon..

I emailed them, told them the beacon got a little wet (didn't give details, but seriously, a beacon should be able to handle a little moisture, right?)

They told me to send it in, and ended up sending me a brand new beacon, in the box, with a new harness and everything.. so good customer service, mammut! The worst thing was that it took about 2 weeks, and I did have to pay for shipping the beacon to them, and I overnighted it.

That happened to me with my original S1. I gave it to Marcus, he tried a firmware upgrade and ended up sending me a complete new unit.
