Has anybody ordered a flat screen TV over the web?

Probably. How was your experience, especially the shipping? Who did you use? Should I just go to Amazon and do it? Will I be happy? Wait, that's a loaded question.

I'm shopping for a 50 inch, good deal.

what's the difference? They arrive in the same boxes when they ship them to a store, all you ever see is the demo model... why not cut out the middleman?

Because my car is too small to carry a 50 inch. I need delivery.

no, that's what I mean - shouldn't be any issue with ordering online/shipping since that is how they get to the store anyway. Comes in the same box whether you pick it up from best buy or shipped to your door. I'd think you want to be home or signature required, beyond that - BFD.

Ordered a 40 thru Dell, went just fine, works great. Only issuewasthey needed a signature, so had them deliver to the pub, owner thought I bought a new TV for the bar after bitching about the lone 21" there...not so much.

Yeah, Big thing, I guess I should be home to sign, but, I ordered 4 tires on wheels from Tire Rack last year and they arrived in less than 24 hours, no signing. Amazing. But a TV is more delicate. Suppose it rains?

I bought a TV from buydig.com a few years ago. No problems. Came in a big protective crate, and the delivery guys 'uncrated' it and carried the box up my front stairs, and waited until I opened, and inspected, and plugged in + turned it on.

Have you ever inspected your luggage after a flight?

What happens if it's damaged? I may not know until I plug it in.

Ordered one from costco, not particularly large, maybe a 36"er. No problems. The factory packaging is meant to protect the product fro m factory to final user. Definitely inspect on delivery.

I didn't even have to ask them to wait. It was their SOP.

they send you a new one. Have you never ordered ANYTHING before? Most businesses aren't in the business of sending you shit that is broken or doesn't work. If that's what you want though, there are businesses that do that too...
