Bill, we brought you in today to fire you. We're firing you because your folder structure has shown us that you have the brain power of sewer rat. I'm going to take you by the arm now and walk you from the building so that you don't accidentally spread anymore stupid on the way out.

Copywriters who use the word "zeitgeist" in a stupid context and are unwilling to change the copy because they think they are words smiths.

zeitgeist is one of those words that should be used really, really sparingly, if ever. If you're a writer and you use that word more than twice in your entire career then you're probably a pompous douchebag.

It's irrational, but I kind of feel the same way about the use of the word "diaspora" ...

As an historian, I must respectfully disagree. Diaspora is a very specific word that describes a movement of people. It is in no way esoteric and pompous like zeitgeist, seriously, time ghost wtf.

It's in a video for a major kids focused company discussing the modern American family. They actually think "while others embrace the progressive zeitgeist" as rational copy.

People who don't put their $ where their mouth is. Ex:

Boss: Okay, we need to pull out all the stops and drum up some new business. This is serious. Do anything you can to bring it in.

OL: Hey Boss, I have (insert name of literally 2nd biggest customer on the fucking planet) on the line, they want to meet next week. Remember them? They were waiting for the product to be ready a YEAR ago.

Boss: Um, well, we're not ready for them just yet.

It seems to keep popping up in fictional novel titles that sound like they're trying too hard to be high-brow. It's starting to be over-used. That's all.

I clarified with them, making sure they knew it was bacon, they all insisted. None of them speak english very well, I am not sure any of them had any idea they were eating pig, but hey, who am I to refuse bacon to those who ask for it?
Similar to the three Muslim men I ran into in a Subway who were considering whether to order what the wall-board calls a "Turkey Bacon Deluxe" and asked me (since the "sandwich artist" spoke even worse english than they did) "Is turkey bacon made with pig?"

They didn't get it to the same extent that the Subway people don't get it when they call their high school dropout help "sandwich artists."

I worked on a huge house for some really rich people. When I left the company I worked for and joined another company, the house owners wanted me to do their service work since I knew the project really well. In 2007, we were to0 busy for my new boss to return their calls. Then 2008 came and we had very little work.
