    Las Lenas - Guides?

    Hey all,

Considering a trip to Las Lenas this summer. Anyone who's actually been there have any recommendations for a commercial tour outfit? I know Extremely Canadian goes there and I've had good luck with their 2 day clinic, but I'd be open to other suggestions. Seems like it's the sort of place that it's worth a week with someone who knows the bc terrain to familiarise yourself.

    Cheers

Weather and lift operations can vary widely at LL. I really like guys at EC. But I wouldn't pay any guides prior to arrival.
You might be stuck on the lower mountain or worse, in the bar?

If you are willing to hike, there is a bunch of great touring terrain directly adjacent to the ski area. A guide isn't a bad idea for this, or even the inbounds terrain from the Marte if/when it opens.

Some of this is described in the TR:

Unfortunately, LL has had a policy over the last few years of only allowing their own guides to work the ski area itself. (Don't know if this is still the case, but I'd be surprized if it had changed). Although I've never used them myself, from what I've heard, they are very expensive, particularly if you are solo.

For specific recommendations, you'll probably be able to get a better response to your question by posting it to the most recent edition of the "South America 20XX" thread on the ski and snowboard forum.

You could try sending a PM to Covert. [serious suggestion]

In my first trip there I found that having a guide was extremely beneficial. Unless you are trying to do the trip on the cheap, I would say it is worthwhile. It also made doing the trip on the cheap the next year much easier. PM me if you'd like my guide's contact info

I'd suggest contacting the guys at blistergearreview.com. Seems they know quite a bit on the subject.

I used powderquest and got better skiing than any of my solo days in South America. Definitely found guides to be worthwhile.

I had a shit ton of fun without a guide. In a day.
