    Ballsy as fuck.

Turbulence? Its a fucking wing suit , you would think they would choose a turbulent free day?

By the way, there is a thread about this in Ski-Snowboard.

Wasn't this one of Jeb Corliss' goals once he returns to wingsuiting? Definitely nuts, but I wonder if it's possible without a "runway" of boxes or padding. Is it possible to scrub enough speed and use the terrain to land somehow?

That is what they both want, next.

Kind of like an auto-rotation (helicopters). Seems plausible, but a number of factors would probably have to be right. That would be pretty cool though.

The margin for error is so small that I just can't believe these guys do this stuff. After a huge snowstorm I would think that 4 feet of fresh snow in a flat area would be their best chance of pulling that one off.

I think they will need some kind of braking system in the suit.
People should learn endurance; they should learn to endure the discomforts of heat and cold, hunger and thirst; they should learn to be patient when receiving abuse and scorn; for it is the practice of endurance that quenches the fire of worldly passions which is burning up their bodies.

was it really "landing" or more falling from the sky at a high rate of speed into some boxes? I mean yeah dude had to hit right on those boxes but still...had those boxes not been there we wouldnt be using the word "landing" at all we'd all call it crashing, and someone would likely be dead.

There's always some naysayers around here.

Is a plane really landing or is it just falling from the sky at a high rate of speed?

IMO, this is the first step in the holy grail of landing a wingsuit without a parachute anywhere. Gymnasts practice tricks into foam pits; aerialists practice jumps into bubbled water. Why can't they practice wingsuit landings into boxes? You think he's just going to go for it?

To me it looked like a test of a custom low speed wingsuit. It looked pretty unstable to me. He seemed to be adjusting a lot. To land standing up you would need a really low stall speed. I don't think you can design a suit that will be fun to fly and also capable of landing. That would require being able to change the flight characteristics on the fly.

Like usual on this message board, armchairs who don't have the balls to leave their parents basement continuously criticize people pushing the limits of man.

It says more about their pathetic life more than anything else.

if he pulled a ripcord and additional material came out to assist in a stall-type manouver, that would kind of jack up the "without a 'chute" nature of this deal, but what do I know?

The other option would be a wingsuit plus a wheel suit
