Broke 80 today for the first time. 1 over 37 on the front 9 and 41 on the back played the par 3s at +5 otherwise I would’ve really posted a good score. So pumped

I am not too quick apparently! I look forward to your report when you get back. What courses are you going to play? This time, I've got: Bandon, Sheep, Pacific and then Trails. (I love Old Mac too, but happy it's the one we miss, if one had to be missed...) I might sneek in a Preserve if time and availability permits.

Last October we played all of them once, except Sheep twice (solely because we could get back out there immediately that day) and the Preserve twice. I did not book that trip and I felt that 18/day was way too little golf.
We are going next October for 5 days on a trip I planned/scheduled and we have 36/day booked--twice around each of the "big" courses.
I would never miss Old Mac....if you could transport me to Bandon right now for one round that's what I would choose. Sheep is the easiest skip for me.

Nice. That'll be a good time. Gone are the days I can walk 18 multiple days in a row. I usually hit the practice area and\or punchbowl with my extra time that is not consumed with drinking and smoking and eating! (In no particular order)
RE: Old Mac. It's always an interesting discussion about Bandon with so many different opinions. I've played them all at least 6 times, with Bandon and Pacific more and Sheep less due to their ages. That said, I had a day out at what has become Sheep many years ago. It was my greatest day of golf having a course absolutely to ourselves and the ability to simply make up holes and shots. I think that probably influences my rating of Sheep. I THINK my rating is 1. Pacific, 2. Bandon\Sheep, 3 Trails, 4 Mac. I am looking forward to the discussions with my group in a month.
I guess what we all can is absolutely agree on without debate, there is NO losing no matter what courses are played!

Speaking of Old Mac.
I don’t think I shared pictures from Wisconsin.
The Lido at Sand Valley.
Recreation of CB MacDonald (Old Mac) long lost Lido Golf Club in Long Island.
I got to play 5 days after opens for limited Sand Valley resort guest.

@nutmeg the course in Lido is still there. I grew up on that course, had some of my all time worst rounds ever there I'd love to go down there and play again, it's been 35 years. My dad said they've put some money into it the last few years rather than rebuild the clubhouse that got damaged in hurricane Sandy. FWIW, it doesn't really look like that It is/was a great links style course that could be wonderful or nightmarish depending on which way you were facing. I miss it

That’s not the original Lido.
The original got demolished during World War 2.
“In 1942,[6] during World War II, the United States Navy acquired the property and destroyed the course to construct a naval base.[7] After the war, in 1953, a new course was built in nearby Lido Beach with a design by Robert Trent Jones.[6] While different from the original, the Trent Jones course features a replica of Macdonald's 4th hole.[8]”
