Question: Camping in Fruita (18 Road)

So, the camping regulations and rules in Fruita seem to be constantly evolving, and I just wanted to check with the collective here that the rules haven't changed significantly from last year. Last May, car camping was allowed on that little parallel road just east of 18 Road AS LONG as the camping was done below the level of where the gravel trailhead lot is with the bathrooms. The camping area was just wide open meadow on both sides of the road, and there was no regulation about how many cars could be parked/camped there. The small number of designated spots at the top of the 18 Road were still there, but there are very few of them, and they were filled up as they always are.

So, is this arrangement still in place? When I was there, the car camping in that open area was pretty much unlimited.

We saw people camped there 2 weekends ago -- looked like a big party. Things haven't changed yet, but there are fliers in all the bathrooms saying it is soon going to be $10/site/night starting sometime soon.
