    AKTR: Chugach Open 2012

Lots of comps going on these days. The Chugach Open was pretty much all AK locals shredding lines not always open to the public at Alyeska Resort.

The weather came in heavy by the afternoon Day 1 (friday) but we pulled it off.

First you have to hike to the venue:

Easier said then done, at the ridge top we were met by a stiff breeze and diminishing light

Can you see the lone hiker?

Gain the ridge top then keep climbing!

    Top staging area, storm conditions

Our starter: He's no Captain Jack but he'll do!

    Some spectators even showed up

    Who's going first?

    Dropping!

    Flat light gnar anyone?

    I made a few turns

I ended up 3rd for day 1 along with my female Carpathian Team mate, Vesna. Mostly her photos too.

We had a weather day for saturday and finished day 2 ripping on Jim's Rock today. Photos and video on the way!

Nice Grassroots-ness. Do it cause you love it.

Day 2 turned out pretty good!

The Venue was a step in the direction of gnar

"I'm gonna shred that then double that then..."

Of course it was a different story from on top the venue, Steep and Steeper

Those 5 foot rocks are actually 25 foot rocks

ALL HAIL GSA! Competitors gave thanks to the almighty GSA for safe passage through such devilish gnar

    Patrollers on cliffside duty

In the end the patrollers showed us how it was done, pow in sun

Patroller throwing down the sweet airplane turn

    Air delivery!

    Slayed

Oh yeah, back to the comp

Vesna and I each managed to hang on to 3rd even with all these young guns getting all crazy

Now we have matching framed art work!

I have a bunch of video to dig through...
