Problem: Dalbello Krypton Pro and Look Pivot Binding

    Hi there

I recently got a pair of Look Pivot (Din 18) binding mounted on my new 4FRNT Renegades. I'm using Dalbello Krypton Pro boots.

After my first day skiing on this setup, the front of both boots had a pretty big dent (both boots!!) just where the boot hooks onto the binding. Also, there was a bit of a white mark where the plastic of the boot apparently weakened (again just at the contact point between boot and binding at the front).

Now, I've heard that the Look Pivot (and equally Rossignol) puts a lot of pressure on the boot and I heard people having issues at the contacts points at the back of the boot. But that my boots deforms after 3 hours of skiing being in that binding is just crazy.

Anyone, heard anything about this. Bootfitter is getting in touch with Dalbello and Look. (According to Dalbello once a Dalbello boot' sole came off in a Look Pivot binding....but only once...)

    Best,
    Philip

Sounds defective. Send renegades and pivots to me for proper and safe disposal.

Sounds like an issue with dalbello's krypton plastic.

I need to go to Utah.
    Utah?
Yeah, Utah. It's wedged in between Wyoming and Nevada. You've seen pictures of it, right?

So after 15 years we finally made it to Utah.....

Thanks BCSAR and POWMOW Ski Patrol for rescues

^^^^^^lulz. I run kryptons in fks on my daily drivers and a few other pair, other than some denting I haven't had any issues after ~300 days on the boots. I'd like to see pictures of any whitening of your toe... how old are your boots? Where do you store them?

Dent receded on both boots after 24 hours and the white mark has gone back as well but you can still see some of it on the photos, it was much much more pronounced yesterday. Boots are stored properly, they are new (2 weeks), and bought from known boot fitter in Chamonix. Not as if no-one else uses Dalbello and Look bindings in Chamonix....

    Hi there

Attached a photo. The white mark has receded much and the deformation of the plastic of the boot is now gone but one can still see some of the white mark which was pretty pronounced yesterday.

Also, I store the boots well, they are nearly new and bought from a well-known boot shop in Chamonix. It was pretty cold in the morning yesterday but skied most of the day with a nice Foehn wind, so it was actually quite warm.

Stokes: Only because you are so top-heavy doesn't mean that everyone else is in the backseat.... ;-)

    Thanks
    Philip

I've had no problems with my Kryptons and Pivot 18s. Show us pics so we can understand your issue.

Submitted post with photos but they have not come through for some reason. Will try and get them uploaded not sure why it isn't working. The white mark has nearly vanished and it was much more pronounced yesterday. Also the dent has gone, naturally.

Anyway, boots been used for only 2 weeks, used them in Marker Dukes without these problems before. Bought from well known boot shop in Chamonix and stored them properly.

    Hey Codma

had a standard mount -- will check with the guys who mounted -- but didn't ask for anything specific (apart from position of course). Also, got the bindings mounted with plastic plate.

Will ski again tomorrow and see whether the white mark becomes worse.
