Filling binding mounting holes, for when you might want to go back and use them

    Hey all,

I want to experiment with moving the bindings forward a bit, but would like to preserve the old holes in case I want to go back. Any tips?? I was thinking of using those plastic plugs, which would work to seal the holes, but then I'd need to re-drill them out to move the bindings back.

I've been trying to come up with a solution to avoid the re-drilling as to avoid cross cutting existing threads (and to make it easier). How about wax in the old holes?..but then was would prevent anything else from adhering like glue or epoxy.

    Is there a better way??

I have reused holes filled with plastic plugs many times. I'd go that route.

If you know you are going to use them again, put in stainless inserts.

Hot melt glue gun... Seals the holes, but is easy to remove when you want to use them again.

^^I've heard this before, can anyone else vouch for this method of filling old holes?

Not necessarilly referring to re-using them, just as an alternative to plastic plugs...

I've used hot-melt glue a bunch of times and it works great.

    x2

altough it sounds like OP is not sure if he will re-use or not, and inserts are certainly at least a moderate amount of time/effort and money if you're not sure you will re-use

    Yeah,

I'd like to go the insert route eventually. I only newly discovered the freedom of mounting bindings myself using templates from WildSnow.com. With this particular situation, I may not go back to the original holes.
