Charter Buses Driving in the Snow

I am going on a ski trip with a group that's taking a charter bus. There is supposed to be a storm coming to the east coast with maybe 4+ inches where I am headed. Do buses go through most winter weather or is there a possibililty that they might cancel?? We are headed to Wintergreen in Virginia and its about a 3 hour drive. TThanks

You can't drive 3 hours and are taking a bus? Tune the skiblades, and air-dry the rear-entries...........

i've had some bad experiences with tour bus drivers in the snow....last year in big sky the bastard didn't even know how to put the chains on...and the chains were in the other bus, which he found out after trying to take us up a huge incline and after we slid back down the hill. tour buses+snow=huge frickin mess. they may not cancel on you, but don't be surprised if your trip ends up a hell of a lot longer than you thought it would be.

If that's your first post, this does not bode well.

If a bus driver in Montana couldn't figure out chains, imagine how prepared a driver going to Wintergreen, VA will be!

Maybe the dude wants to get piss-stinking drunk on the way home. A lot more fun that driving 3 hrs if you ask me!

Scary, thinking the same damn thing. Took many a ski trip on a bus, and the coolers in the back were the best part. Good ole PA ski trips. A good decade ago now.

I used to do a similar thing when I was living out in Los Angeles. By the time we got out to Palmdale, everyone's sloshed up on cheap wine and beer, mooning rival ski club busses, or watching a 10+ year old Warren Miller film on the little TVs overhead.

We never had a problem with the chains and such, though. The trip would take a bit longer with the snow, but these were ski trips to Mammoth. Only the last 15-20 miles or so ever required chains. More time was spent putting the chains on then actually driving with the chains.

Word of advice: WATCH YOUR ALCOHOL CONSUMPTION ON THE BUS! DO NOT BE THE "PUKE-BOY" ON THE WAY UP! You won't make any friends, and the stigma will carry with you through the weekend, if not longer.
