Both my boys, age 8 and 11, are on longer skis this year. +10cm. They get longer skis every year but usually struggle the first few days. This year it seems like their shorter stuff was holding them back. Because as soon as they got some more tip in front of them their stance became more aggressive. 20/20 in hindsight. But it’s cool to see.

Now I wanna get them into a race program to set a strong foundation but they’re reluctant. Just wanna have fun, to which I don’t disagree.

    Met some Gundams yesterday.

Definitely recommend race program for kids. My daughter’s skills have made some pretty big leaps, plus she has made some really good friends from the program. Drills and skills all day, then at 3 she and a crew of 9+ y/o’s swap race ski for twins and go good off on the mountain until parents pull them off the hill.

My son was really reluctant and didn’t want to join the program. He started hanging w little sis and her friends and is begging to join next season.

YMMV but has been great for our small hill. Going to much bigger mountains has been a pretty easy transition and she’ll be out skiing me sooner than I’d like. My son may as well depending on how he takes to the program

ID:	491880Sharing the lift line with my boy Saturday last. It was wet but soft and utterly skiable. I think it was a little crispy up high but Bowl Four looked like it was skiing nicely after they opened it on Sunday.

Kid made big progress this season, off the leash with just the edgie wedgie, can ski Whiteface lower mountain trails on his own with occasional grabbing him for a speed check, and has skied several upper mountain blues on the leash still…those runs where he’s on his own and I can ski next to him really are special…skiing most days this season with a 4 year old really made this sub par winter in the northeast worth it!

My kids (6, 7, and 11) rocked a sleeper pow day at Targhee today. No pics (we were having too much fun) but hope to repeat again soon. Fun to see their skills progressing after wrapping up their season-long all mountain program at Winter Park last weekend.

That's no excuse. Pull out the phone and take a pic or two, especially on those memorable days. When they're grown and gone you'll be glad you made the effort.

At the top I told her “I was last up here 25 years and 50 pounds ago.”

My oldest boy (6) is almost getting his turns parallel. It’s been fun to watch him progress, especially late this season.
