I bought my girlfriend a pair of Garmont G-rides with thermoliners, on a hunch that they would fit. Which they don't. The length is right (26), but she has room especially on top of her foot especially towards the front of the foot (not really a problem closer to the ancle). Also the buckles have to be tightened to the max. The lower part of her leg towards the ancle is also quite slim.
It seems pretty clear that her foot is generally too narrow for this boot.
I will get my money back for the Garmonts, so that is not an issue. Do any of you guys know which boot might be better for her? I think maybe the Scarpas are a bit narrower, but I don't really know. Also I wonder if there is an alpine boot that can be recommended (walking mode would be good). Those DaleBoots, are they the way to go? My girlfriend is at beginners level, so the super tight performance boot would be overkill. My guess is that the boots will be used 75% for randoskiing.
And sorry again for all these tedious gear questions.
you may actually want to stick with the g-rides and get a different liner. the scarpas (lazers, matrix, denalis...i've owned them all) are much higher volume in the forefoot. alot of people have the same issue with the g-rides. the liners just dont take up much volume. i just put some scarpa liners in my mega-rides (same shell shape as g-rides) and that filled up the volume nicely. i personally think the g-fit liners suck unless you have a very high volume fit. i had scarpa liners molded to the matrix, and i couldnt get them tight around my forefoot at all. i then put the same liner (without remolding) into the garmonts, and they fit way tighter. just shows how much lower volume they are in the forefoot
