Maybe if Alta starts allowing snowboarders they will consider allowing blacks and mexican's next. Alta is for racists!

If the big issue is the traverses, then why not just ban snowboarders from the traverses?
Obviously there is more to it, than that, so it's time to get over the shitty excuse.
^^^^ you know it is not really about the traverse, even though most skiers would prefer to not have snowboarders on it. And most snowboarders would suck on it.
It is a successful business model, so why change. If your company is doing well and making money, why make a change that could potentially jeopardize that. Many of their clients go there primarily because there are no boarders. They might decide to go pend their money at Deer Valley instead. But I think it is deeper than the business. It is a cultural icon of skiing. Anyway, the flat spots suck, even on skis. Trust me, there are more worthwhile resorts.
na. he's just a whiny bitch about everything.
I've recently met a bunch of people who come every year to Alta, even with this year's less than ideal snowpack. Most of them say they come here for the vibe and the attitude that people have here. Things would seriously change if snowboarders were allowed and I think many of these guys would not come back, or at least for less time then they normally would. Some of these guys are here for a month or more.
Snowboarders don't seem to understand what a difference not have them around makes. My first time at Alta, I could not believe I was able to find fresh tracks even late in the day knowing the same spots would have been plowed to shit if boarders hit the same spots. They just don't get it and never will !
I think snowboarders need a snow paddle. It would be sorta like a SUP paddle. Then traverses would be no problem.....and just think of the abdominal workout.--,,

Note to self: Add "Gay Trayers" to lexicon of snowboard bashing slang.
Alta is basically owned by ultra conservative whackjobs.. I think their type of thinking basically attracts like-minded people....people who can't seem to get it through their thick skulls that NOT all snowboarders are 16 yr old thugs who sit down in the middle of the trail and scrape the snow off moguls. I can ride just as clean fall-line lines as most of the skiers on this forum....and I take care to ride with both finesse AND courtesy. Some of you guys DO sound pretty pathetic in your misguided aversion to snowboarders.

Mission accomplished, BMG! Your incredibly obvious trolling still managed to work.
Best of luck with your future endeavors here on TGR.![]()
Who cares? I spent a season at Alta, my pecks were HUGE! I spent 85% of the time on the chairlifts, holding a tow, or traversing.
i dont care if its a troll, i love yelling at snoborders on the traverse, ask anyone who knows me, alta folks could have this as well.
bf
I love yelling back. LOL.
If you can't ski over a few post holes, how are you gonna get down a cliff riddled 50 degree slope?
Seriously though, most of us try not to do much damage to the high T, when we are motivated enough to even deal with it. The same thing would happen at Alta, I am sure. There's a reason that the lines off of knolls 1,2, and 3 are 80% snowboarders, and that the opposite is true off piss pass. We don't like skating on traverses anymore than skiers like us skating on traverses.
Alta can do what they want for all I care. If it works for them, it works for them. I just get tired of hearing the douchebag rationalizations for it, especially since I am pretty confident that I can outride most of the kooks driving around with their "alta is for skiers" stickers on the back of their SUV's. "hey, look at me, I skied at Alta".
If you left the blue squares once in a while you wouldn't think 99% of boarders sit/scrape/sit/scrape.
Cheese wedge on skis = side slip on snowboard. Standing in middle of run on skis = sitting in middle of run on snowboards. You do realize skiers stand around a lot, right?
Mission and endeavors huh ? I have better things to do than troll people on an internet forum. I asked a simple question and told you where I got the info. It doesn't go much further than that. I know you want to be a good troll cop and all but stop being such a sandy vagina.![]()
Took me like 10 minutes to figure out how to change this shit
WHITE POWDER!!! WHITE POWDER!!!

That's a good point, skiers are always standing together in the middle of the run, usually watching eachother make hip wiggles. Then when you approach them they start scattering in every direction thinking they need to get out of your way, when really they need to just stand still so I can go aroung them. At least snowboarders sitting on the run don't push themselves into your path just as you're about to go around them.
And I'd love to Ride Alta once just to see what all the fuss is about. Maybe I'll have to borrow some of these new snowboard skis, they have to be a lot easier than those straight things I skied on in the 80's.
I could see boarders being banned at Mad River as the place is steep, narrow and icy to begin with and beginner boarders would only make it worse. Alta though... I bet with the continued increase in competition for customers and their lack of a real estate base that they will reconsider snowboarding in the next five years. I don't think Alta is any better or worse than Snowbird, Solitude or Brighton as far as flats go and the traversing there isn't mandatory.
who cares? If there was a resort that only allowed snowboarding, I would not care one bit and would be happy there was a special place for knuckledraggers. Brighton & Mt Baker should ban skiing.
A bit of a silly argument. Jeremy Jones can out rip just about anyone. It is a bit like saying Shane McConkey(if he were still here) could out rip 100% of the anti-skiing douchebag boarders. Of course he could, those two guys are(were) at the very top of the game.
I'm not in favor of skiing-only resorts, but I can see the issue with Alta. All those traverses would be difficult on a board. Squaw has lots of traverses too, though not quite as many as Alta. I can only think of one case where I had a boarder really screw things up. He tried to climb back up on reverse traverse(underneath Palisades, to access Headwall) and got clipped by a skier. It was a really stupid thing of the boarder to do, he had no chance of actually making it to the end of the traverse. That was the only time I saw that kind of thing happen. I think most boarders, who are good enough to actually try to access goods on Headwall through a traverse, understand not to do that. If they don't, they need to learn.
I have known plenty of boarders who have just as much 'soul' as any skier I have met. I don't have much use for the park rat snow summit cool guys, who wear the latest gear and suck outside the park, but I'm not a fan of skiers who are that way either.

People made a big deal about it in Aspen and it turned into a non issue when they let them on. They come, 95% leave and the one's that stay are good?
I was actually glad to have them at Highland's opener on Saturday. The snow was old crud, over some rotten bootpack and frankly, for the most part, the trays were doing better on it than the skiers.
That old shit needs to be tracked up, send the boarders in! Plus fixing all those boards has to be good for the economy!
