In that spirit I happened to give The Doors another watch over the weekend. Hadn't seen it since it first came out. Interesting in the 20's to see the 60's re-imagined in the 90's by people who were there. Like the 60's some of it struck me a bit, well, pompous, but if nothing else there are some truly amazing sequences in the film. Like this one...



Watching I couldn't help but think of this, which if I ever did know I'd forgotten tied back to that (3 minutes in, especially).

Wonder if Jim ever auditioned to be Jim?

I saw a version of Taming of the Shrew at the Tahoe Shakespeare Festival years ago--set in Truckee in the 19th century, with pistols instead of swords, except the pistols were bananas. Guy did some fancy gun tricks with a banana that got a standing O. Funnier than it sounds like reading about it.
