ISCG adapter on frame with tabs?

Can you use an ISCG 05 BB adapter on a frame with ISCG-old tabs?

Kind of depends on the setup. What frame is it?

If you're going to mount a BB sandwhiched adapter, why not just use a BB mounted chainguide?

Titus El Guapo... cause I have an ISCG 05 chainguide and would like to keep using it.

I don't know that frame well enough. I got to ride one a few summers ago but I don't remember what the tabs look like. You've seen those adapters though right? To create thread depth, theres a good bit a material hanging off the back side of the plate that may hit the existing tabs depending on how they're affixed to the bb shell. They're made to fit on frames that have no iscg tabs at all, not around another type. If it were me, I'd just buy the right back plate.

Let me dig around in my stuff when I get home, I may have a back plate you can use. All my frames are 05 now so I don't need the iscg old stuff anymore if I have it. Maybe I'll trade you or something. What size ring you using? Double or single ring?

edit: you sure that guapo ISN'T 05?

I just found a pic of a guapo frame. That looks like it's got the iscg05 spacing on it.

Have you already tried to line it up? (IE do you have the frame in hand yet?)

Well, wouldn't ya know... Titus describes it as ISCG, but some research shows it's actually ISCG 05. Solves that problem...

Dude! He's the internet tire GURU!

He and lots of guys on mtbr even told me.

He also told me that with drop bars, you don't NEED to lift the front end of your mountain bike because you have so much more control.

2009 and later El Guapo's are ISCG 05 as you already found out. Great trail/am bike. Only issue I had is that the tabs are mounted flush and dont leave much room for chainguides without spacing out the BB cup. I tried mounting a stinger orignally with RF Atlas cranks and it was a no-go, the small chainring bolts rubbed on the plate. Right now I have SRAM X9 2x10 with an MRP 2X and there is probably 1mm clearance. I wish all manufacturers would recess the tabs 2.5mm like on my Knolly Delirium, makes dialing in the chainline much less of a hassle.

I had to shave off the small chainring bolt tabs for the chainguide to work on my Covert, so I should be good to go.
