Do tinted windows look trashy?

Most states have regulations about how dark the tint can be. usually a "limo tint" is illegal. Around here, the front side windows can only be tinted a little bit while the back windows can be much darker. Frankly, I think that looks dumb.

Personally, I think a lot of cars do look better with a tint but I'm not a fan of the super dark tints. There's a reason it's illegal in a lot of places - it makes it harder to see out also.

I want to get my car tinted but it's way down on the priority list. When I do, I'll have all the windows done the same amount which means the fronts may end up darker than legal but it's one of those things that the cops would rarely hassle you about, especially if it's not the full-on blackout which I don't want anyway.

Blackout or limo tint went out in the 90's
Call around your area and see who does some ceramic films, Huper optik (overpriced) Geoshield or others... a 30 or 40% all the way around looks amazing on most cars... Plus the Ceramic actually stops the heat, limo does not.

My brother got pulled over last weekend in Utah,initially for having tinted windows. Which seems fuckin BS cause how should a cop be able to enforce tint laws on an out of state vehicle? His aren't blacked out but might look darker cause it's a black truck(with CO plates )

He ended up getting charged with Possession.

full tint on my super crew looks super good, not blackout, but dark all around. 5-0 doesn't sweat my tint, but they don't especially admire my lack of attention to posted speed limits. the darkside on lake city way does a nice job imo

Expensive, yes. Overpriced? It's really good stuff. It looks a bit different (better, imo) than other tints and it's amazing against heat gain in the car. It was worth the money, to me. 35% all around except windshield.

Looks dumb but is most practical, Retain visiblity up front, darker in back is nice for a car that sits lower to the ground than trucks or SUVs to block out some light frmo following traffic at night. Also if its a car like an outback dark tint in the back makes it nicer to sleep in and also harder for theives to see any valuables when its parked.

I tinted the back windows of my cars to reduce the sun glare on my sleeping babies. Keeps prying eyes off my shit too (kids, skis, etc.). I didn't fuck around with the front because I didn't have a reason to.

Maybe it looks dumb. Maybe I don't care.

Windows need to be tinted to about 35%.

Anything over that, will cause you some issues, and is a pain at night.

Senior year in HS we took a sizeable bag of herb and a shitload of ones down to Charlotte to tour the titty bars. My buddy had a 4Runner with factory mirror tint, to which he added 5%. Even with your face pressed against the glass, it was hard to see in. We were driving through traffic on our way to titty bar number whatever, when a cop pulls up next to us. Dude in the rear passenger seat looks over, puts a joint to his lips and waves at the cop who is looking back at the truck. Cop pulls away, and we laugh our asses off. Years later it would occur to me how fucking stupid we were.

I drove in washington for years with slightly darker than legal on my front windows, was never hassled.
